“Bad day love?” He asks as the door slams shut. It’s cold outside and you had to go travelling with Asra which is something you love but, you both got into a heated argument and you haven’t stopped thinking about it since.
Julian calls out your name, bringing you back into the present moment. You can only nod and roll your eyes in response, kicking your boots off your feet quite vigorously.
“Don't move, I'll help.” Reluctantly, you stop battling with your socks, trying to fix them and watch as he strides over to you with a determined look set in his features.
“Is your hair bothering you?” You nod, resisting the urge to rip the hair out of your head since it is lodged between your scarf, tickling the back of your neck and somehow stuck to your cheek while being full of static.
You try to smooth it down but fail miserably. He smiles softly, putting your hand back down by your side. His voice is low but genuine when he mutters, “I said I’ll help you darling.”
He kisses your forehead as he undoes a few buttons of your jacket and pulls your scarf off. You feel the tension come off your shoulders when that scarf does. You roll your head and let your eyes shut while he steps behind you and with the hair tie around his wrist.
He takes hold of your hair, collecting each strand into his palms. He twists it and attempts to make a neat bun. He ties your hair back, smoothing the fly always, the damp pieces wet by the snow, and those stubborn hairs that just stuck to your face.
You sigh in relief and unbutton the rest of your jacket. He plants a kiss on your shoulder before he steps back in front of you. “How’s that?”
You look around the floor seeing the wet boots, heavy coat and a sweat soaked scarf scattered around and smile, “Much. Better.”
He smooths his hands over your collar, over your sleeves and down your waist. His hands never left your body this entire time. It’s soothing and relaxing, in a way, knowing that he’s helping you. “How about some tea? You look like you need it. I could fix you a bath or read to you if you really want, that is. Or I can-”
You wrap your arms around his waist, squeezing gently. His body tenses for a moment then relaxes into the hug, wrapping his arms around you, holding the back of your neck with one hand. He kisses the top of your head and leans down to scoop you into his arms.
You squeal at the sudden movement and the sudden height difference, holding onto his neck as he carries you bridal style. “Let’s go relax, hm?”
You nod and kiss his cheek, “Thank you love. I appreciate it.”
“You know I’d do anything for you.” He sets you down on the couch, hovering over you and suddenly you are unable to contain a smile.
He plants a soft kiss on your forehead, “Now, how about that tea?”
Contrary to popular belief, Julian doesn’t like the rain very much. It frizzes his hair and smells bad. Some would think he loves to go out and splash in puddles or reenact certain movie scenes in the rain which he does, but his hair MUST be covered. This is non negotiable.
Today, he has to close up the clinic quickly and run to the shop, where he lives with you but the catch is, he has no head covering. He left his jacket at home and well, he doesn’t want to use his shirt and his eyepatch will cover absolutely nothing. Instead, he runs. It’s only about a 2 minute walk up the road but it’s absolutely dreadful in the rain.
“It’s just some rain…” he mutters to himself before he kicks the door open and readies his keys to lock the door behind him.
“Here we go!” He moves swiftly and runs with his hands over his head to the shop.
The rain is pouring down in heavy sheets of water, coating Julian in seconds. This has got to be the worst storm Vesuvia has seen this spring. Thunder roars as he kicks the door to the shop open.
You can only watch as the door flies open, revealing Julian out of breath and covering his head, leaving room only for one eye. “Ilya honey, you can relax now.”
“No, I cannot. I need to run a bath, right now. Are you busy? No? Good, let’s go.” He kicks off his boots and shrugs out of his leather overcoat, slowly untucking his oversized white shirt as he grabs your arm. Quickly you follow him upstairs and prepare a warm bath.
Once the water is hot and the salts are sprinkled in, he smiles and sighs, in pure content. There’s silence for a moment as you step in with him, just the rain and thunder occupying your ears. You move to sit in front of Julian, kneeling as his hands rest firmly on your waist. Just as he begins to lean in closer, thunder crackles the sky, almost shaking the ground causing him to flinch.
You can’t help but hold back a laugh, “Scared of a little thunder darling?”
He raises his eyebrow, “Not with a big strong woman like you around.” He smirks and pulls you close to rest your back on his chest.
Your chuckle turns into a laugh, as you reach back to stroke his jaw, “I’m flattered.”
He kisses your hand and sets it back in the warm water. He reaches back, grabbing a bottle of shampoo, holding out in front of you. He’s getting better at asking for things which makes you extremely happy. “Care to do the honours?”
You turn to him smiling, “Of course.” Kissing his hand before taking the bottle from it. He blushes and smiles waiting patiently.
“Come here” you pat the side of the tub as you sit on the edge, knees bobbing just out of the water.
Almost immediately he sits between your legs and closes his eyes. You wet his hair and begin to work the soap into his curly locks. The hums of pure pleasure escape his throat as you massage his head.
You lean down to his ear, with your hands still in his hair, pulling slightly to turn his head towards you. “You sound so cute right now.”
His face flashes three different shades of red when you kiss his ear and continue washing.
Soon enough you’re both clean and a little bit pruney so he helps you step out, as he grabs a large towel, wrapping the both of you in it.
“Nice and warm?” You nod, kissing his chest while wrapping your arms around his waist.
“Feel better?” You ask and see him smile,
“yes. I do, but if we cuddled by the fire, I would feel much better.” With a swift and smug glace to each other, it becomes a race as soon as he says the words.
Not bothering to change out of your robes, you both drop the towel and run downstairs. You throw a small ball of fire at the fireplace watching as it comes to life. Julian beats you by a few seconds, splaying himself comfortably on the couch, raising his eyebrows suggestively. “I won.”
You stand in front of him and smirk, folding your arms. Thunder strikes again, softer this time but the rain doesn’t let out. Slowly you walk towards him and he bites his lip, watching you approach. “I guess you deserve a reward then.”
His eyes widen and he suddenly tenses. You kneel on the couch, leaning forwards on all fours, just inches from his face.
“I guess we abandon the cuddling.” His eyes search your face, then lock on your eyes.
“Would you rather cuddle?”
“No- I mean yes! Or… whatever you want really-” You cut him off with a soft kiss on the jaw.
Your hands find the hem of his robe, playing with the fabric as you kiss along his jaw and slowly kiss his neck, biting softly along the sides.
You pull away and he almost whimpers but stops at the sight of you straddling him. His hands squeeze your thighs and your hands slip under his robe, as you lean down to kiss him along his neck and chest once more. He hums and tangles his hands in your hair, massaging the back of your head, as if encouraging you to keep going, so you do just that.
notquitebroken's Assorted writing promtps #11
“Did you sleep last night? At all?”
“God no, what do you take me for?”
Pairing: Julian x Reader (gender neutral, no pronouns used)
Warnings: None. Just a short fluffy snapshot of Reader/MC and Julian. I’ve never written a reader insert/(y/n)....anything before, despite that being all I ever read anymore lmao
This is probably a bit clunky as a result.
'What the hell' There was that noise again, a faint scratching, not nearly consistent enough to lull one back to sleep. Whatever it was, it was annoying as all hell and needed to stop. (y/n) threw an arm back to slap at the bed behind you. Wait. There should have been a body there. Where did h- Oh. That's what the noise was.
Groggily, you rubbed your eyes and rolled over to glare around the room. There he was, hunched over his desk. That idiot. ‘He didn't...’
“Did you sleep last night?" you asked, voice cracking with sleep, "At all?”
For a moment, you weren't sure if he'd even heard you. He just kept scratching away, whatever he was writing must have been important. You laid quietly a moment longer, then cleared your throat, "Jul-"
A laugh cut you off before you could even get his full name out. “God no, what do you take me for?”
You rolled your eyes, knowing he couldn’t see it, "Someone who actually sleeps every now and then, I'd hoped" He laughed again, cut short this time by a yawn, and set his quill back in its ink pot.
"Come lay down, the sun's not quite up yet," the blankets rustled as you flipped the corner back to make space for Julian, "and you shouldn't be either."
"...That's not a request, is it?" he asked, a bit sheepishly, finally turning towards you in his chair.
You grinned, "What do you think?" The light dusting of pink across his face told you exactly what he thought. It was cute. "Just get over here, you absolute fool."
Now it was his turn to grin, cheeks still slightly pink, as he hoisted himself to his feet and crossed the room in three strides. "I guess if it's an order," Julian murmured as he crawled back under the covers, wrapping his arms around you, "I'll just have to obey, won't I?"
julian getting sick and having a nonbinary mc take care of him. like he has to be in bed and just,be taken care of! might or might not get spicy, thats up to u
awww!! this speaks to my deep seated need to take care of him yes. content warnings: none, its just fluffy. ——————————————————————————–Julian wanted desperately to not be curled up in bed. He kept insisting he had work to do and that he could keep the clinic open. It didn’t matter to him if he was barely able to stand, or breathe through his nose, or if he was burning up. MC gave him a look that he recognized from Mazelinka.
He had a hard time translating the look they gave him to words, but roughly it was, “If you don’t get back into bed this instant I’ll whack your kneecaps with a spoon so you can’t go down and ruin your health even more by overexerting yourself.” Therefore, he stayed put in bed. It killed him to not be able to help out, to not be useful. He groaned.
“Hmmm, my love? Are you alright?” Their voice fluttered in from the other room where they were working on Mazelinka’s signature soup and some tea. He groaned again.
“This is the end, I can feel it now. I’m close to death.” Julian melodramatically whined and pulled the blanket over his face.
“Julian.” They pulled the blanket down from over his face. “You’re being too dramatic. You have a cold.” Their expression softened as they held out the cup of tea. “Drink this.” He struggled to sit up, exhaling sharply as he strained. Putting down the tea, they gently put a hand on his back and arm to help him sit up.
“Thanks darling. you’re so good to me.” His eyes were smiling up at them. No matter how bad he felt, they were still the sun to him. They handed him the tea and gently stroked his hair while he drank. Julian tried halfheartedly to tell a tale from his days as a pirate, but was interrupted by a coughing fit. By then he had drained the tea and was tired from even that mild exertion.
“As soon as I get well again, ohohoho the things I want to do with you.” Even with his bold declaration, his voice was weary as he slipped back down into bed. They kissed his forehead gently and placed a cool towel over his brow.
“First you get better, okay? Then we can talk about how to celebrate.” Julian’s eyes fluttered closed and he fell back to sleep with a small smile across his face.

a/n: when i was writing this i didnt have an actual direction for it so if its kinda jumbled and all over the place im sorry!! i just really like plants lmaooo
Julian had always felt that he was never one to keep plants alive, despite his ability to keep people alive. He thought that it was laughable that any time he tried to keep even just one houseplant it always died. Even when he gave it enough water and let it have enough sunlight as it sat on the windowsill of his office in his old clinic, he still managed to kill it. That was, until you came along to intern for him.
You, as a magician, loved plants and loved to be surrounded by them. And you felt that having some at the clinic wouldn’t do any harm. If anything, it would help the place feel less bleak. You felt that some color against the white walls and cold medical instruments would feel more inviting and less like people were marching to their deaths as they walked in. So you brought in some potted plants that you felt Asra wouldn’t miss-- plenty of small succulents lining windowsills and hanging plants so not to take away space that could be used for patients. You were the one to take care of those plants, on top of caring for patients. Julian just observed, slowly learning what to do and what not to do when it came to keeping a plant well. Eventually, he felt that he could try and found a climbing fig, which he kept in a hanging pot in his office, that you never found out about, because he learned one day that those were your favorite.
Seeing you so lovingly take care of your ferns and palms, whispering kind words to each and gently offering each water, Julian felt almost stupid that he had never tried to connect to nature. He summed it up to how magicians and scientists were just too different in their ways of thinking. Maybe he could be more open to learning from magicians, especially you.
