The Fate of Bait As fate would have it, I was laying on wet, muddy, bayfront shoreline on the south end of Holgate, photographing marching minions of fiddler crabs when baitfish started intermittently breaking the surface of the water with a splash. It was downright impossible to predict where the fish might next show up but like lightening that frequently strikes in a series of bolts, I hoped that there might be time enough to focus and snap a photo, if not of the first, perhaps the following fish thereby capturing a little minnow sailing through the air. Now, I realized that this would be difficult, at best, but then what fun would it be if it were easy. So, for the next several minutes I turned my attention to the water rather than the land. Whether this little fellow managed to escape or whether if fell prey to the larger fish beneath is something we’ll never know, for the fate of bait isn’t in the eye of this beholder! #onefish #fish #jumpingfish #fishoutofwater (at Long Beach, New Jersey) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1-tWn0gd14/?igshid=13n80jx8tbd78
