1) Washing hair: (a) Use a clarifying shampoo so all of the built up products won't get in the way of your smooth finish. This build up can infringe on getting smooth hair because the hair cannot absorb the new "smoothing" products correctly. I recommend: TRESemme Deep Cleansing Shampoo follow up with a moisturizing wash out conditioner. (b) Do a CoWash. If you do not use a lot of products in your hair or you just had a clarifying wash recently you can skip the shampoo step. This promotes the hair to obtain more moisture. I recommend: Organix Moroccan Argan Creme conditioner (2)Deep Conition/Hot Oil Treatment (a) Deep Conditioning gives the hair extra moisture. Having dry hair cannot lead to smooth hair. Evenly (from tips to roots) moisturized hair equals smooth strands. I recommend: ORS Replenishing Conditioner. (b) Hot oil treatment makes the oils (ex. Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil) penetrate the hair shaft directly. This makes sure that all of the moisture that was absorbed by the hair stays there. I recommend using olive oil or Argan oil. (3) Leave Ins- Using serums is the last step into having smooth relaxed hair. Serums keep fly aways from occurring. Make sure use a light weight serum so hair will not become heavy from product. Also try to get a heat protecting serum. I recommend: Ogranix Coconut Oil Anti-Breakage Serum. Applying Heat: Pre tangle hair. (1) Blow drying- Use an ionic blow dryer and use it on cool setting so the cuticles of your hair can remain closed. Dry hair in 4 sections to avoid tangles. Flat iron- Use a ceramic flat iron to ensure hair's smoothness. Flat iron hair in smaller sections so the heat can be evenly distributed. Put iron on medium setting for heat. Having to much heat can cause hair to lose moisture resulting in frizzy hair. Use a fine tooth comb (rat tail comb) simultaneously with the flat iron so hair can be lined up straight before ironed. (get a small amount if hair, hold comb near to the scalp, place flatiron on the roots of the hair then go down the hairs with the comb combing through right in front of the flatiron coming behind it all the way down to the tips) After wrap hair and then put on a satin/silk scarf or cap. Roller Setting: Get the right amount and width of rollers for your hair length. Make sure hair is detangled and wet. If hair is not soaking wet or is dried before rolled on the roller hair will become frizzy. Stay underneath the dryer until hair is completely dried. Do not disturb hair while drying. When taking out the roller do it one by one gently. Comb through the hair with a wide tooth comb. Without Heat: Air Drying: detangle hair. Gently brush hair back in one direction. Tie a satin/silk scarf around hairline to keep the hair in place while drying. Part hair vertically (up/down) loosely twist the sections of hair separately then clip them up with hair pins. Leave hair alone. Every hour check if hair is dry by feeling the roots. About after 4-6 hours depending on hair thickness. Take out everything then apply a little of oil on your hair, about 4 drops. Wrap hair in a satin/silk scarf or cap.
