Witch Tips 🔮 - 5 things to remember when you start out!
Mundane over Magic - Not everything is a sign. Look for the logical before you assume magic was involved.
Do what feels right - Not all aspects of a practice may work for you; feel free to tinker until it feels right.
Good/Evil Magic does not exist - No magic is inherently evil or good its all about the intent of the practitioner. IE Hexes are not evil. If you don't want to do them, then do not do them.
Practice safe Spell work - Don't leave lit candles alone/near drapery. Make sure your area is ventilated if you're using some potent incense. Don't do anything illegal to obtain spell ingredients, please.
Cleansing - Cleanse everything before first use. With water/smoke/ashes/salt (whatever works for you). Prior vibes can carry over from other places, so give everything a good clean before you use it.

✨How to make a door ward✨
The entry way to your home is always bustling with magic, visitors, deliveries, people coming and going. This is a special type of magic based on energy. What these people/spirits/fae or other creatures from beyond the veil carry with them is what we are focusing on today.
That energy sometimes lingers inside our home once it's let inside and after a while it can build up in the best or worse ways.
So, what is a ward? A ward is a spell or incantation that provides a barrier to protect or repel something for whatever it is you are creating the ward for. In our case it's our door.
To make one you will need to set aside a few moments to think about what you want your ward to do. Protect your home and all who live inside? Keep out unwanted people and vibes? Whatever it is, that is how you can tailor the ward to provide the best protection for you.
This specific ward is for keeping out ill intentions/bad vibes/repelling anyone or anything that wants to do harm. Either physical, emotional, or mental.
The intention is for anyone (or anything) to leave all types of negativity at the door when they come into our home, and pick it back up when they leave.
What you need: A door (Kind of necessary but a walk way will do just fine.) Rosemary - Wards of negativity, cleansing, purification. (Also a great replacement herb if your missing one for a spell) Yarrow - To set firm boundaries/protection Cinnamon - To shield against negativity plus used to amplify and quicken the spells working time. Black salt (Salt mixed with ash or charcoal) - Banishing and curse absorption. A protection sigil (One you made or a premade one you trust)
This is one I made specifically for protection. If you want to use it, feel free too!
(It's meant to mimic a key)
Now there are various ways to apply the ward, but these three are my favorite/most reliable. In order from easiest to more labor intense.
1. Draw or hang the sigil on the inside of the door. Lay the herbs across the entry line. - Be careful not to step on the line when entering or exiting the house as it might mess with the ward. 2. Place the sigil and all the herbs in an opaque (non-see through) satchel. Hang the satchel above your door on the inside. - You can also draw/stitch the sigil onto the satchel! - The color of the satchel can be any color, but you can use certain ones to fine tune the ward with color magic. 3. Place the herbs in a heat safe bowl/cup. Add boiling water and let sit until completely cooled. Once cooled add the water to an empty spray bottle. Then draw the sigil anywhere on the bottle. Spray the frame of the door and then the entry line. - You can spray routinely, or spray again whenever you feel it needs a top up. - If you don't want to work with hot water feel free to replace the herbs with their oil variants. Just remember to shake the bottle before each use. - Be careful as cinnamon and black salt can stain certain surfaces.
No matter how you ward your door as long as the intention is there things should go rather well. If you do not have a door, you can use an archway or hallway. The ward itself will act as a door then.
To re-activate as needed simply refresh the herbs and sigil. Or trace the sigil on the door with your finger.
(My personal preference is to refresh my door wards once a month on the first of the month, then trace my protection sigil whenever I feel like I need some more oomf for the day.)
