A trio of Steamed Molten Salted Egg Yolk Custard Piggy Buns (猪仔流沙包) in a bamboo steamer basket. Contained within is savoury and sweet molten lava of salted egg yolk custard that burst out upon biting into the pig-face bun. 🐷

My brother’s table ordered the Crispy BBQ Honey Pork Buns (脆皮叉烧包) and he sent one over to our table. Inside it are juicy sweet pieces of char siu which went well with the lightly crispy bun.

We had the Steamed Glutinous Rice with Chicken wrapped in Lotus Leaf (珍珠糯米鸡), a more luxurious version of Lo Mai Gai. While the taste is decent, there is no wow factor though the lotus leaf did imparts it unique fragrant to the glutinous rice.

Went to Canton Paradise (乐天小香港) at Junction 8 after praying at the temple. We were seated at two different tables, so each ordered their dishes separately. This Braised Peanut & Chestnut was the appetizer they placed on the table. Whole savoury peanuts with sweet chestnuts perked up the tastebuds as we poured ourselves the Glutinous Rice Pu-Erh Tea (糯米沱普洱茶).

We started off with the classic dim sum Siew Mai or Steamed Pork Dumpling (鱼子蒸烧卖皇). The pork and prawn filling with sprinkling of flying fish roe adding specks of colour is both meaty and wholesome tasting. Then came the Har Gow or Steamed Prawn Dumpling (笋尖鲜虾饺) with chunky succulent and crunchy prawn enclosed inside the translucent skin.

The Steamed Xiao Long Bao (上海小笼包) or soup dumpling is also another must order item. Pick it up gently with chopsticks into a soup spoon. Take a small bite in the dumpling skin and proceed to suck out the soup (beware, it's hot) then popped the whole thing into the mouth.

Mum had the dry style Crispy Roasted Irish Fat Duck Noodle (金牌爱尔兰烧肥鸭面). No idea what is the differences the Irish duck had over our local Malaysian duck as I did not get try it.

The Prawn and Mango Fritter (酥脆香芒虾卷) I did not managed to get a clear shot of the filling. The outside is crispy while the filling is a mixture of crunchy prawns and pieces of tangy sweet mango in a creamy package.

The next deep-fried dish is the shattering crispy Beancurd Skin Prawn Fritter (鲜虾腐皮卷). Wrapped in beancurd skin are chunks of prawn meat with chopped scallions and fried to a golden brown in colour.

We placed order for two types of Chee Cheong Fun (猪肠粉). The first is more commonly available Steamed Rice Roll with Fresh Prawn (鲜虾蒸肠粉) with pieces of prawns rolled inside translucent rolls of flat rice noodle. The less common Steamed Rice Roll with Dough Fritter (炸两肠粉) had crispy sesame seeds crusted youtiao (油条) rolled inside which gave it two totally different textures in every bite.

The restaurant had a 50% off signature specialties with every spending of S$30 so we also had the Stewed Ee-Fu Noodle (干烧伊面) while my brother’s table had the Wok-Fried Traditional Hometown Vermicelli (家乡炒面线). I love my ee-fu noodles as it had soaked up the flavourful gravy even though it doesn’t comes with much ingredients other than mushrooms and beansprouts.

Sis recommended this Crispy Eggplant with Pork Floss (肉松炸茄子) which was a delight eat. If you are the type that do not like the mushy texture of the aubergine when cooked, you will enjoy this dish. In fact, you might never know that you are eating brinjal as this one is fried crispy and sprinkled liberally with savoury pork floss.

To end the luncheon, we had Double-Boiled Peach Resin with American Ginseng (泡参银耳炖桃胶) and Mango Puree with Sago and Pomelo (杨枝甘露). My table only took the chilled mango puree with sago pearls and pomelo pulps which is refreshing and not too sweet.

Heute habe ich in Junction 8 etwas indisches Essen probiert. Leider hat mich das so gar nicht überzeugt, weil der Geschmack von einigen Sachen echt gewöhnungsbedürftig war. Das Hähnchen im Curry war ganz lecker, aber einige Gewürze im Reis waren zu seltsam für mich.

Was gibt es eigentlich nicht zu kaufen? Das dachte ich mir als ich diese Handyhülle für Pokemon Go gesehen habe. Diese soll es dem Nutzer angeblich erleichtern die Pokebälle gerade zu werfen. Dabei wird dem Finger eine Schiene zum wischen geboten. Echt irre wie weitreichend die Auswirkungen eines Handyspiels sein können :D
