Well, after more than a month, I have partaken of food of the fast variety. Went to Taco Bell, got my fill of that weird substance for a good long while. Also had an orange creamsicle freeze, which would have been great save for the fact that it was mostly melted slush by the time I actually got around to it thanks to this lovely three-digit weather we're having right now. IT ISN'T EVEN TECHNICALLY SUMMER. JEEZ.
Before I go ahead and talk about my plans for June, I would just like to reiterate how much I have come around to the Kindle. I believe I mentioned yesterday that I purchased the A+ Certification Exam Cram book for my Kindle, and I spent most of the day reading that. I have never had such an easy time reading. It's amazing how much I resisted the idea of a small, portable screen that can hold hundreds of books. Just in the last week or so I have come around to love this little piece of technology. I'm glad that I have the Paperwhite version instead of the Fire, because the Fire would be too tempting to pick up other random apps and games. The Paperwhite is specifically designed for reading books, and it does a fantastic job. The backlight makes it easy to read anywhere, the battery life is surprisingly long, and the ability to resize the text helps someone like me who doesn't want to hold a screen three inches away from my face in order to read the words on the page. It's making reading the Exam Cram book far easier than the actual book. In short, it's awesome.
Okay, on to this month's tasks. This list isn't going to be very interesting, because my main goal this month is to take the exams and hopefully become A+ certified. I'm still waiting to hear from my DOR counselor about this, but maybe I should just be checking my mailbox every day just in case that's how we're working this whole thing out. I haven't checked my mail since last Friday, so it might behoove me to check it today. Even though it's 900 degrees outside at the moment. Eh, a little heatstroke is worth finding out I'll be able to take the exams. I shall go check the mail upon completion of this entry.
So my plans for this month...I mentioned yesterday that I will probably lower the amount of tasks from twelve to five or six just to keep my sanity during this hectic month. And most of these tasks will be repeats/continuations of last month's tasks. Still, these are tasks that need doing, so this is going to be a month of continuity. Here are my planned tasks:
Go through two (or more) boxes a week
At least 30 voice over auditions this month
Finish editing the podcasts
Actually make the Perlers (I heard back from the guy I wrote to yesterday, and he still wants me to make them, so I'm going to do so soon)
That should be enough to do this month. I will add one more little task, which really isn't more of a task but an escape: read a bit every day. I'm not expecting to finish a book by the end of the month, but if I do sit down and end up reading for like three hours straight, so be it. I want to read at least 10-15 minutes a day, just because. Of course, reading the Exam Cram doesn't really count, as I have to read that (as well as the online material) in order to make sure I'm ready for the exams.
Well, that didn't take up as much space as I had anticipated. Oh well. Gotta think of something else to talk about for the next...350 or so words.
Oh, here's something: I haven't felt really tired the past couple of days. This is in stark contrast to the seemingly never-ending exhaustion I've felt since January of this year. I'm fairly certain that has a little something to do with actually going to bed at a reasonable hour and getting enough sleep so that when I wake up at buttcrackofdawn'o'clock in the morning I'm not already tired. I do wish I didn't have to wake up so early, but that's the way my body has decided I'm going to function. If I could somehow manage to train my body to wait until the evening to poop, I would have SO MUCH FREE TIME in the mornings. Or I could just sleep in every day. That would be nice.
And since I would rather not think about pooping (thank you very much, Taco Bell...), I just wanted to mention how my school day ended. It was about 20 minutes to 4 PM when the entire room went dark. No warning, just everything died. We thought it might have been a circuit breaker getting tripped. It was extremely hot outside, and the AC unit was running an awful lot today. When our instructor walked outside to check the circuit breaker, he noticed that one of the power lines near the school was bent over. Apparently someone had run into it. A huge swath of the neighborhood had no power. It was pretty awful. He sent everyone home, but because I can't drive, I waited for my mom to pick me up. About 4 PM, I get a message saying the traffic is horrible (no doubt due to the fact that the traffic lights are completely out). She arrives about 15 minutes later, and I'm one of the last maybe five people on campus because everyone else already left. I'm not mad or anything. Just kind of annoyed that some random idiot ran into a power line and took out the electricity for thousands of people. Not cool, random person. Not cool at all. Oh wow, I just realized that anyone who had air conditioning in that area got that knocked out on such a hot day. That is an awful thought.
I suppose I'll leave you with that. Kinda wish I could have ended on a lighter note...um...uh...HERE HAVE SOME ADORABLE ANIMALS BYE!
