Snow Fields, June Forster
Every winter I hope for snow here in Wales for the way it transforms the landscape. This oil painting is based on my garden and surrounding fields; the visual interest of shadows of the house on the snow and weather moving rapidly across the distant hills remained in my mind as I worked on this canvas.It is not a representational piece but the initial observation is important as paint takes over and the image evolves with a life of its own. I hope to convey something of the coldness but also the changing light as clouds shift and new snow falls.
