fever! junghoon
sfw! gn! reader, kissing, babying junghoon
your boyfriend junghoon was always calm and unreadable. his quiet composure fooled everyone else, but not you. you always knew how to read the tiny things about him, the details that no one ever noticed. that's what made your relationship so strong.
so when he texted you that morning im fine. just tired. you already knew something was up because junghoon never said he was tired. he always said he was busy or literally anything else. tired meant something was wrong.
an hour later, you stood outside his apartment door and knocked. no answer. you knocked again, softer this time. still nothing. your stomach twisted.
“junghoon?”
silence. you didn’t hesitate before pulling out the spare key he’d given you months ago, claiming it was ‘for emergencies.’ this probably counted.
the apartment was quiet. usually there’d be some faint background sound like the tv playing, music playing low, or something. but now there was only stillness.
then you saw him, curled on the couch, blanket barely covering him, lips parted slightly, hair messy in a way that made your chest ache. junghoon looked… so soft.
"junghoon?”
he woke up just barely, eyes fluttering open just enough to look at you.
“…hey.” his voice was hoarse.
your heart dropped. you crossed the room in seconds, dropping to your knees beside him. up close, his cheeks were flushed a pretty pink, and he looked groggy. you pressed the back of your hand to his forehead, “junghoon, you’re burning up.”
he blinked slowly. “…’m not.”
“don’t lie to me,” you murmured.
he tried to sit up. emphasis on tried. junghoon made it halfway before swaying dangerously, eyes unfocused. you barely caught him.
“okay, nope. absolutely not.”
“seriously… i’m fine.” his voice was weak. his head dropped against your shoulder. his entire weight sagged onto you. very fine. clearly. you guided him back down gently to lay on the couch. he looked annoyed about it, which somehow made it worse.
“you have a fever,” you said softly.
“…just tired.”
“junghoon. you are sick.”
“…fine. i might be sick,” he mumbled. it was the most reluctant surrender you’d ever heard.
"i'm gonna take care of you. no protesting." you said.
he just nodded, "i'll be okay, but... sure."
you dedicated the rest of your day to him. you moved around his kitchen like it was second nature, cooking soup, making tea, lining up medicine like you were preparing for battle. junghoon watched you from the couch, eyes half-lidded.
“sit up,” you said gently, returning with soup. he had almost fallen asleep again, so you shook his shoulder lightly.
“…don’t wanna.” junghoon, normally so composed, now sounded dangerously close to whining. he looked so sleepy and soft and cute – your chest melted.
“hoon.”
“…you’re bossy when i’m sick.”
“you’re annoying when you’re sick.”
“…mhm.”
"please? for me?" you pleaded, poking the bowl towards him again. he allowed you to help him up. victory.
he held the bowl with both hands like it required full concentration. you tried not to smile too much.
"don’t look at me like that.” he said, pouting.
“like what?”
“…like i’m a baby.”
“but you’re so adorable.” you cooed, pinching his cheek. they were so round and fluffy and pink, how could you not??
he went very still. “hey… 'm not.”
his ears turned faintly red, and not because of the fever.
after medicine and soup and multiple attempts at convincing him to drink water (“just one more sip, please”), junghoon was visibly fading. his eyelids drooped. his head nodded slightly.
“…come here,” you whispered.
he didn’t argue this time. he simply leaned into you like gravity itself demanded it. you shifted carefully, pulling him down with you until you were both lying on the couch, tangled awkwardly but comfortably.
junghoon immediately tucked his face into your neck. he was warm. ridiculously warm.
“you’re going to overheat me,” you murmured, pushing the blanket away.
“…sorry, you’re too comfy.”
he was breathing slow, arms loosely wrapped around you. you brushed your fingers through his hair as you wondered how it was this soft, like fine cashmere.
junghoon stirred slightly.
“hey, wait. you shouldn’t be this close,” he mumbled sleepily.
“why?”
“you’ll get sick.”
you paused. then smiled against his hair. “maybe, but its too late for that now.”
“no. don’t want you get sick. it's not very fun.”
“…worth it.”
he shifted just enough to look at you. eyes hazy with exhaustion. “…worth it?”
“mhm.” you leaned in slowly, pressing a gentle kiss to his lips.
junghoon froze completely, brain clearly short-circuiting. “are you sure? i have a fever...”
“i know.”
you kissed him again. longer this time. lingering. smiling softly against his lips. junghoon made the smallest, weakest sound – something between a sigh and a defeated exhale.
“you must really like me.” he said, smiling for the first time all day, then pulled you closer. tighter, like he had no intention of letting go.
minutes later, he was drifting again, half-conscious, half-melting into you.
“…thank you,” he murmured quietly. so quiet you almost didn’t hear it.
“of course.”
“…stay the night?”
you tightened your arms around him.
“always.”
and junghoon, feverish and stubborn and unbearably soft, finally fell asleep completely wrapped around you like there was nowhere else he’d ever rather be.

When you signed up for a morning run with Junghoon you didn’t realize it would be quite so…early. Normal people don’t get up this early. Normal people don’t torture themselves this way. There is literally no one out on the street, not a single other person. And sure, this part of town is less busy during the day, but not even a car driving past on the way to work, or returning from a crazy night out?
If his slow blinking and drooping eyes are anything to go by he clearly hasn’t been to bed yet. He’s tired, and so are you after waking up at 3am to make yourself presentable enough to come out on this run. A run that was supposed to be a clever ruse to get to know Junghoon on a more intimate level has turned into a desperate attempt to look like you’re having fun. Every time he turns around you force a smile on your lips and gather all your energy reserves to pick up the pace. Just a little more, give it a little more.
It’s been a while since your last run, let alone a run this early in the morning and you’re struggling to keep up. He may be tired but he’s still fast, disappearing around corners and down alleys and across the street and you’re worried that this time you may have lost him for good. It’s those damn long legs of his! Plus the fact that he actually considers himself a runner – that may have something to do with it.
He reappears from behind a side street, clearing the little yellow house until he’s back into view. His eyes search for a moment before landing back on yours. It’s quick but a smile passes across his face before he gives you a stern look and reminds you to call out if he gets too far ahead.
It’s hard to talk, your throat is raw and you need all your energy just to heave up oxygen so you nod instead. Not for the first time this morning.
He’s about to take off again and you groan inwardly but then he turns towards you and starts to jog in place. You take the opportunity to give up entirely on looking cool. You bend over, hands on your knees, to suck in air as if you’ve been deprived of it your entire life. Pain sears deep within your ribcage as you gulp and wheeze. It’s not an attractive look, you know, but there’s no stopping it.
“Maybe we could,” he starts, taking a mid sentence breath, “I mean, we could have done something else?”
“Huh?” is all you get out.
He watches you for a moment before shaking his head. “It’s not. It's. It’s nothing.” And he takes off again.
“Wait.” Your voice is raspy as you follow the giant, still slightly hunched over. “Are you asking me out?”
He looks over his shoulder, his face unreadable, and you're in too much pain to stop yourself.
“Because I’ll say yes.” The words grind against the back of your throat as you come to a stop. There’s a park right next to you, the plush green grass and golden leaves infusing you with a sense of calm confidence. “Especially if it doesn’t involve anymore running.”
There’s a peculiar look on his face, his lips are pulled in slightly in this sort of reverse pout as he jogs in place. “Why did you ask to go on a run if you don’t like to run?”
You shrug, your hands back to your knees as you finally feel the first full breath soar through your body and expand your lungs. It’s the first time you have been able to breathe this deeply since you started this whole thing. He’s still jogging in place, his eyes on you. “I just thought it might be nice to hang out or whatever.”
He smiles and points towards the playground. “You want to hang?” He’s already making his way to the monkey bars before you fully turn around. He grabs them but his feet still touch the ground. He’s too tall for them so he tucks his legs back under and swings back and forth slightly. “We can hang.”
“Why would–” You stop as his words register. You roll your eyes but the laugh is genuine. “Very funny.”
He smiles and it's glorious. He has the kind of smile that can’t just stop with him.
Clearing your head with a small shake you skip over to the swing set. There’s two of them dangling side by side. Sliding onto the nearest one you kick your legs back and forth until you find a rhythm, gliding back and forth, the wind lifting your spirits along with your hair.
Junghoon lets go of the bars and walks over. He sits down on the swing next to you and quickly falls into your rhythm. You both swing in silence, smiles on your lips as you stare at each other, pondering the possibilities of tomorrow.
