19 “Can’t you see i’m in love with you?” 49 “She belongs to me”

You were out with one of your friends, Jinyoung. He’s liked you ever since you were in your early teenage years but you were too oblivious to notice. You two went to a coffee shop to just talk about feelings, school, and life in general.

“I’m really struggling with calculus. I just don’t get it!” You said, frustrated. “You and me both” He said, slightly laughing.

“Anyways, Jinyoung, how’s that girl you liked? You never told me who she is.” He looked shocked. He looked around in panic then looked down. “Uh, yeah, she’s fine. I still haven’t told her I like her so i’m not expecting anything to happen between us.” He said, flustered. “Oh, you should tell her! And I want to meet her when we get the chance.” You said, giving a very slight smile. “What about you? Do you have anyone in mind?” He asked leaning in slightly to hear your answer. You looked around. “Well, I’m not sure. I guess if anybody likes me, i’ll give them a chance and see if I like them.” You said setting your elbow on the table and placing your chin on your hand. Jinyoung seemed shocked but relieved at the same time.

You both decided to stroll around the park for a while. As you both were walking, one of the hottest guys in school approached you and Jinyoung, causing you both to stop. You may or may not have a huge crush on this guy. You smiled brightly at him as you both greeted each other. Jinyoung stared at you both, trying to hold back making a disgusted face.

“How have you been, Y/N?” The guy said, moving closer to you. “I’ve been great, thanks! And you?” You replied, giving a wide smile. “She doesn’t speak to me like that” Jinyoung thought to himself. After a while of talking and Jinyoung being quiet and making judging faces the whole time, the guy cupped your face and started leaning in. You stood shocked. Jinyoung quickly smacked the guy’s arm away and got in front of you. “She belongs to me!” He quickly yelled out. The guy just stood there angrily and you grabbed Jinyoung’s arm and quickly said bye to your friend.

“Jinyoung, what’s your problem?!” You almost screamed at him. “I was just saving you from a jerk like him.” He said, casually. “You’re not my dad, Jinyoung! I can’t believe you just ruined my chances at being with him! You know what? Just don’t talk to me!” You yelled and started walking away. He quickly grabbed your arm to stop you. “Are you an idiot or something?! Can’t you see i’m in love with you?!” He yelled while staring into your eyes. You stared at him shocked. “I’ve been in love with you my whole life, Y/N! You’ve just been too stupid to realize it!” He kept pouring out his feelings like this. Tears streaming down his cheeks as your eyes were beginning to water.

After a few moments of silence, you finally spoke out. “Why didn’t you tell me sooner? Why did you have to wait until now? I’ve had so many ex boyfriends that hurt me and you’ve always been there. Why didn’t you tell me before so I wouldn’t have been in so much pain?”

You two were silent for a while. “Jinyoung…I like you too. I have for a while now. If you would have told me sooner, we would’ve still been together. Happy. I would have never been in pain because you’re the kindest person I know.” You spoke out. Jinyoung stood there frozen. “Did you really mean that?” He finally said. “Of course I did” you said. “Then, will you be my girlfriend?” He asked, hope in his eyes. “Of course.” You smiled happily. “Now, what do you say we go home? We can spend our first night together as a couple!” You said. “I’d love that” he said, expressing happiness in his voice.

And with that, you both held hands and walked back to your house.

Since Junior saw you yesterday, all he could think about was you. Or well, your bruised wrist. You had tried to cover it up all day long but one time your shirt had slipped down as you took a sip from your coffee. When your sleeve slipped down Junior had already seen it before you could react. He didn’t comment on it and just let it be. Thinking you somehow just hurt yourself. But it just didn’t feel right.

The next day at practise it was still going through his head. What if someone did this to you? What if it happened more often?  As he was questioning himself he messed up, once again. “Hyung are you okay?” BamBam had asked him. “Yeah, I’m fine, it’s nothing.” Bambam nodded and they went back to practise again. After many more mistakes JB decided they should have a talk. “Jinyoung, can I speak to you. Guys take 5, yeah?” They both walked to the hallways of the building.

“What is going on with you? I have never seen you do this bad.” His friend sounded honestly concerned. “It’s y/n.” Junior answered him. “Oh, that girl you’ve known for how long now?!” “Yeah, her. It’s just that…” Junior let out a deep breath and sacked down to the ground. JB joined him on there and encouraged him to keep talking.

“Okay, so, we met up yesterday at a café nearby. And when she wanted to drink her sleeve moved down her arm and her wrist was bruised. She told me a lot of things, how life is going, school stuff like that. She also said that she got a new boyfriend. They have been together for 3 months now and I’m worried that he is the one doing these things to her. What if he does this more often? We are so close, she would tell me right?” Junior let out a groan and threw his head back against the wall.

JB didn’t really know what to do with this. When Junior started talking about the girl he thought it was just a crush that was bothering him. But this, this was something he didn’t expect. “Why don’t you call her up or go to her house and ask her how she got it. Maybe she will tell you it was just an accident and then you can let it all rest.” JB patted Juniors shoulder and stood up. Lending him an hand to help him up. “Are you ready to get back at it?” Junior nodded and gave him a slight smile.

When the boys both walked back to the practise room, the other boys were sitting on the ground just talking about random things. Junior took out his phone and texted you immediately.

‘Hey y/n. I was wondering if you want to meet up again sometime soon? It was very nice to see you again yesterday. It was good to catch up! Let me know! - Jinyoung’

Little did Junior know that was the worst time to text you. After another three hours of practising the guys began to pack up their stuff and leave. Junior checked his phone, only to see you hadn’t answered. Ignoring the weird feeling, he put his phone back in his pocket and walked after the guys.

It was almost 10 p.m, when there was a knock on the front door of the groups dorm. JB got up and opened the door. Once he opened the door he saw you. Your face was facing the floor and your hoodie was ripped on some parts. He could see the blood through the holes. He reached out to take your arm and bring you inside when you flinched away from his touch.

“It’s okay, come in, I’ll get Jinyoung for you.” You nodded your head and took a step inside. JB took one last look at you and then turned away. Jogging back to the living room where he knew Junior would be. “Jinyoung, y/n is here. She needs you.” The worry in JB’s voice set Junior off as he was up and away within a second.

He stumbled by the door as he took you in. You lifted your head up and he saw you tear tinted cheeks and the cut on your arm. That was enough for him to slowly walk to you and take you in his arms. He took your hand softly and guided you to the nearest bathroom. As he passed to living room, the group members were staring with a confused look at what was happening. When they turned back around towards JB, he started telling what he knew as soon as you were out of hearing sight.

“What happened y/n? Who did this to you?” “I-It it was my boy-boyfriend.” You were chocking on your words while crying. “Why?” Was all he could say. From the inside he was fuming but he was even more worried about you. After a moment of thinking you answered him “He had heard that we went out yesterday… he thought the worst and got angry.” You took a deep breath. You actually didn’t want to tell him. It might make him feel bad.

“When he saw you had sent that text, he became furious. He-he started to hit me and kick me.” You were sniffling and trying your best to hold back you tears. “He threw a vase at me.” You went into full sobs and fell forward. Junior was quick enough to catch you and hold you tight.

He knew he was right, he just knew. After he got you cleaned up and you had taken an shower you were dressed in his clothes. “Do you want to sleep or come with me to the living room with the guys?” Junior held your hand and stared at you. “Let’s go to the living room, I don’t think I can sleep yet. Junior nodded and led you to the living room. As you clinged to his arm you both went to the living room. You were a little nervous to meet his friends and to think they’ll meet you in this state.

“Guys, this is y/n, she has been my best friend since middle school.” Junior introduced you, you bowed as far as you could before the pain kicked in. It wasn’t that far. “Hello, nice to meet you.” You said back to them. They all stood up and came to greet you.  When you all sat down you sat in between Junior and JB. You laid your head on Juniors shoulder as everyone was watching a movie. You tried to watch but you kept having flashes of what happened. And with every flash you flinched a little.

As you started to fall asleep you felt Junior move underneath you. “You want to go to bed?” You only nodded and stood up with him. In his room you laid down and when Junior was about to leave you held him back. “Please stay, I don’t think I want to be alone yet.” Junior smiled down at you. He laid down with you and you two cuddled. “Thank you, Jinyoung. I don’t know what I would do without you.” you mumbled against him.  “Always y/n, your safe here.”

This Is How Friendships Die (Junior)

Word Count: 660

Summary: Jinyoung frustrated by losing a board game or card game to Y/N.

Jinyoung threw the dice, moved his piece and picked up a card. The expression on his face turned sour and he tried flinging the card across the room, but it was too light and landed next to him, making him even angrier. Looking at the board he wiped everything off onto the ground and sprang up out of his seat.

“Well that was rude,” you said calmly, amusement twinkling in your eyes.

“I hate this game!” he raged as he stomped around your living room.

It was just the two of you tonight. At least once a week you’d have friends over to hang out and play games. Jinyoung being one of your closest friends meant that he never missed it. With more people it was usually more relaxed, because everyone would be drinking and laughing, but because it was only the two of you, the competition was fierce. 

“You’re such a sore loser.”

“I just don’t understand how you got so far ahead. Why did I keep ending up in jail? This game isn’t fair.”

You watched him walk back and forth across your living room with his hands on his hips. 

“I can’t help it that I’m this good.”

“I’m sure you cheated.”

You burst out laughing at his serious expression and he turned to glare at you.

“You think this is funny? This is how friendships die, Y/N!”

You apologised and soon your laughter died down. Jinyoung sat down by the coffee table where the board game used to be and rested his arms on top of it.

“Want to try beating me at something else?”

“Yes. Please. What do you have?”

That’s when things got serious. You pulled out every playable thing you owned. The two of you played, Uno, Clue, Snakes & Ladders and every other boardgame in your apartment. When you beat him at those, you suggested card games, something you weren’t very good at. But you beat him at all of those too. You even beat him at Go Fish. He stood up off the floor and screamed like he was in agony. Afterwards he sunk back down to the floor and rested his head on the coffee table, and you got a call from your neighbour asking if everything was okay, to which you explained that everything was. Jinyoung had absolutely no luck with games. It was almost sad. You looked at his body slumped over your coffee table and for the first time that night, the situation really wasn’t that funny.

“Is there anything I can do to make you feel better?”

“No,” he mumbled and pouted when he finally lifted his head. He was staring at the floor with his chin in his hand, looking way too sad. “Nothing can make me feel better. I’m a failure.”

Looking at him made you feel bad. Maybe you should have thrown at least one game just to cheer him up. But it was too late for that now. There was no way you could get him to play another game with you in this state and even if you could, he’d know you were letting him win.

You walked around the table to sit next to him and leaned your head on his shoulder. He leaned his head against yours instinctively.

“I’m sorry,” you said. “I didn’t mean to make you sad. Do you still want to be friends with me, even though I’ll always kick your butt at old-school games?”

You felt him chuckle and lifted your head to see the ghost of a smile playing on his lips. He looked at you and seemed much calmer. 

“There’s one thing I know I’ll always be better at than you,” he said.

“Yeah? And what’s that?” you asked challengingly. 

Without answering your question he leaned forward and pressed his lips to yours. You were too shocked to respond and before you could even do anything, he pulled away.

He smirked at you. “Surprises.”

“Junior! Can you come here please?!” There was no reply to my calls so I shouted again, our apartment filled with my voice once again. “Juniorrrrr!” My voice dragged out. Within seconds of my last call, a head poked around the door frame, “Hey.” Junior walked up to me as I sat on the bed. Kissing my forehead and holding my shoulders. “What do you need, jagi?” “I can’t put my socks on,” I poured a little, moving my shoulders up and dropping them down. My 8 month belly making it difficult to do the simplest of tasks. Junior simply took the socks from my hands and sat on the bed beside my feet. Easily putting my socks on for me. “Were you busy? I shouldn’t have distracted you, sorry,” “Jagi, don’t worry I wasn’t that busy, anyways I’d do anything for you and the little one in here,” his head leant into my stomach, planting a kiss on the bump. “I love you,” I smiled, I couldn’t imagine anyone else to be having a baby with. “I love you too.”
