The first two words their soulmates say to them is tattooed on their skin. The words on your wrist reads âHello thereâ, how are you supposed to know who your soulmate is with those words? Itâs how everybody starts their conversation.
Being a witch was very exciting but being an transfer student, not so much. You were the only witch who was going in their fifth year and who had to get sorted. So it was you being 5.5 ft. and 16 years old between a dozen of little ones who were around 11 years old during the sorting ceremony. The hat was placed on your head only three months ago and it had placed you in (y/h).
After three months you were getting used to the new environment and you had made some friends in your house but also some from other houses. One of your friends was Ron Waesley, he was very good friends with Harry Potter, but you and Harry have not spoken enough to call the other a good friend. Itâs just that you are never around Ron when he is around Harry.
Today was a little tough, you overslept and had missed breakfast. Then the lessons went terrible because every time a teacher asked you a question your answer was wrong. Your test result from a quiz from last week came back with one of the lowest grades. It all ended up with you being in a horrible mood. Â And then the Waesley twins showed up and pulled a prank on you, usually you could take it and you just laughed along with them but today they were at the wrong place at the wrong time.
So when they started to throw bewitched snowballs that were only aimed at you, you snapped. Whispering a spell that made a snowballs turn into sharp and pointy icicles. You whispered another and made them drop to the floor. All of the icicles fell with their sharpest point down, piercing the snow beneath your feet. You screamed at them âWOULD YOU JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!â, the tears were prickling your eyes. With your scream you had turned all attention towards the twins and you.
You turned around and left the garden. Walking away and towards the only place where you knew you wouldnât feel so down. Walking inside the owlery, it didnât take long before you broke down. You missed home, your friends and your family. You missed those who could cheer you up at these times. But animals always seemed to put you in a better mood.
You were just sitting down on a step from the stairs that led into the room. Silently seeking the comfort the owls could provide you with. When you had calmed down you took out your sketchbook and started to draw one of the owls that sat before you.
Neville had heard about you through Ron and Harry but he had never really met you. You somehow didnât even share a class! So when he heard from Fred and George during dinner that the prank they pulled on you had pissed you off he became curious. He wanted to ask you if you were okay, see if you maybe wanted to talk about something. He could imagine that being a transfer student was tough. He had asked the people around him if they knew where you went and tracked you down.
You donât know how long you have been in the owlery but you knew you had missed most of the afternoon and your dinner. You had put your pen and paper away long ago when the sketch of the owl was done. Now you were just sitting here on a low wall and letting your eyes wander around the room.
You were so focused on your surroundings and the looks of the owls that you didnât hear the footsteps coming your way. âHello there.â The words scared you tremendously. You felt yourself fall backwards, you managed to yell âOh shitâ before you hit the ground.
Your company ran down the stairs to check up on you. âAre you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?â You sat up and felt a strong pain in your wrist. âDammit that hurts.â You said as you lifted up your arm, your wrist seemed fine but it feels like it was broken. âIâm sorry, I didnât mean to scare you like that.â The person before you said. âItâs alright, I had a shitty day anyway.â You looked up to see whose face belonged to the voice.
When your eyes met, you just knew. âYou said hello there.â You mumbled. âI did and scared the bejeebers out of you.â You looked down at your wrist with the tattoo and scoffed, of course this would happen to you again. You think he is the one but it turns out he isnât, like every time. âNever mind, Iâm fine. I am going to see madam Pomfrey.â
Shall I walk with you? I feel bad about scaring you like that. My name is Neville by the way, Neville Longbottom.â He held his hand out for you to shake. You took his hand âY/n Y/l/n, nice to meet you.â
The two of you walked towards the hospital wing. Along the way you chatted with Neville, turns out he is an absolute sweetheart. Youâre almost sad that he isnât your soulmate. âHave you found your soulmate yet?â you casually asked him. âNo, I havenât and you?â âNo, not yet. For a moment there I thought it was you but then it didnât seem like it.â Nevilleâs forehead creased, had he missed something? Â
âWe have arrived, thank you for walking along. It was nice getting to know you.â Â You smiled at the confused looking boy. âYeah, Iâll see you around.â You both waved each other off and went separate ways. Madam Pomfrey had told you that your wrist wasnât broken but just badly sprained.
It was the next day and Neville couldnât get you out of his head. Were you his soulmate? If you are how come he didnât notice? The words on his wrist didnât match with what you said. Right?
It was another two days later before he saw you again. Neville saw you walking down the hallway, probably to y/h âs common room. He ran up to you and grabbed your wrist turning you around. What he didnât know is that he grabbed the wrist you had fallen on âoh shit, that still hurtsâ Neville quickly let go of your wrist and took a step back. âIâm sorry y/n, I forgot that you hurt your wrist.â âItâs fine Neville, I wouldâve forgotten too if it wasnât my own body.â You smiled at him.
Neville didnât speak, just starring at you. âCan I help you Neville?â you looked at him questioning. Neville was zoned out, thinking. âWould like to go on a walk tonight? With me I mean.â Nevilleâs heart and mind spoke for him. Your eyes went big, you thought that Neville was only on your mind not the other way around. âYes, I would like to.â
Later that evening you and Neville met up in the court yard and started walking. After some chit chat you just had to ask this one question. Â âHow come you asked me on this date?â Neville stopped walking, causing you to stop and turn towards him. He looked at you and then at his wrist, showing you his soulmate tattoo.
âI started thinking about what you said to me, you know that you thought I was your soulmate when we walked towards the infirmary. I have been thinking about it for two and a half days straight. And then today when I grabbed your wrong wrist, you yelled âoh shitâ just like you had done in the owlery when I scared you.â He smiled nervously at you, hoping he was right about this. You looked down to his wrist and saw âoh shitâ written in a beautiful font. You couldnât help but laugh.
Nevilleâs expression changed quickly, thinking you were laughing at him, making fun of what he had said to you. When you noticed though you quickly stopped âNo, no I was not laughing at you, just at the thought you had these words on your wrist for your whole life, probably thinking âwho the hell is this and why would they be cursing at me the first time we meetââ. Â
You showed Neville your wrist, âI remember you saying âhello thereâ before you scared me.â You smiled up at him. Without thinking about it you stood on your tiptoes and pecked his cheek. Â Both of you were blushing like crazy, not that you could really tell in the dark winter night. Seeing his embarrassed state and you trying to hide it you wrapped your arms around his waist. Neville not long after locking his arms around you.
âLetâs go inside shall we?â Neville asked you and you nodded. Grabbing your hand in his, Neville led the way back inside
