what are all the characters favorite foods, and why?

[Edit after writing most of this this: I just realized you said “and why”. Um. Im unsure of specific reasons ngl. For anything that doesn’t have a specific reason listed, just assume the reason is cause “it tastes good” or something]

Hmmmmm. I’m gonna be so real, I’m unsure.

I feel like Ellie would probably enjoy the average American breakfast foods (eggs, bacon, pancakes, waffles, milk, yeah). but she’s also 100% the type of person to have her all time favorite food be like some random specific dish from some random specific restaurant. She would occasionally have whatever coffee-drink from whatever cafe, and if she tried boba tea she would either love it or hate it. Would try low quality matcha if her friend got her to, and would 100% think it “tastes like grass” — towards the begining of the story she would be a HATER and joke with her friend about “how could people drink this??”, but towards the end she would be more like “well it’s not for me, but I still respect people who enjoy it, I guess”. She would be completely humbled by actually high quality matcha, though, but it wouldn’t be her fav or anything, and she probably wouldn’t go out of her way to buy it. Would eat mash potatoes. Actually I feel like mash potatoes were her favorite as a child. Ohhhh she would also enjoy eating blueberries and strawberries. She would like milk chocolate but not mind white chocolate. Dark chocolate is too bitter for her.

Harley (Hostess) would probably be fond of putting cinnamon and sugar on crêpes because she ate that as a child. As Hostess she would drink a lot of coffee but it’s more of an acquired taste, and she would actually prefer tea, especially in private (which is funny because her being British is a complete coincidence). As for an actually favorite food, I’m unsure. She would probably eat grilled cheeses though. also, she is a dark chocolate enjoyer and will genuinely die on the “white chocolate isn’t even chocolate” hill. I feel like she would be a somewhat picky eater and doesn’t like watching people eat, but half the time she has to grin and bear it as Hostess (like if she’s invited to a fancy diner and whatever).

Also side note about Ellie and Hostess/Harley: I feel like Ellie is the type of person to like sugar snap peas, but maybe even slightly prefer the actual pea part rather than the pod, while Harley likes sugar snap peas but prefers the pod. Meaning that, hypothetically, if they were close enough, and assuming they don’t mind sharing food, it’d be reasonable to imagine them sitting next to eachother sharing some peas (with Hostess eating the pods and Ellie eating the peas, like siblings)

Rue…. Oughhhh I’m unsure. she would probably enjoy eating steak for dinner but idk if it would be her favorite 🤔. Hmmmm. I’m actually not sure. She too would eat mash potato’s. But again idk about favourites…. Hmmmmm…

I’m still developing Rue’s daughter but with my cuuurennnttt idea of her (which did drastically change because of a dream I had, so it may drastically change again/this may become inaccurate) she’s the type to be picky and eat like one food for a week straight before randomly switching and eating something else for a week straight. Would enjoy dino nuggies.

Sckitler LOVES Skitler’s (the DTS equivalent of the candy Skittles), which is one of the main reasons they were named that lmao. (Also yes this includes all of the heads). They can consume them safely in small amounts as a treat — which usually means a whole bag (or two) full considering their sheer SIZE lmao. (Roughly 5-6,5 metres tall?? For Americans, roughly 16-20 feet tall. For other reference, like 2 and a half to 3 adult men tall). As for other foods, um.. idk. Idk what they feed the theatre hydra. Dog kibble maybe. Idk man do they sell weirdass-theatre-hydra chow?? (/rhetorical, /silly). But yes Skitler’s are Sckitler’s all time favourite.

There’s a few other characters but I haven’t even named them nvm developed them enough to figure out what their favorite foods would be…

do you ever plan to turn DTS into a comic or show or book or something? and if so, what kind of story? slice of life, action, etc.?

it kinda makes me think of gravity falls, in how the first part was mostly episodial (if thats the word) with a little bit of underlying plot there, and then season 2 started and the plot was very constistant and stuff. idk, but dominating the scenery sounds very interesting /pos

Unrelated but this is my first anon ask, so congrats on that! :D (I for some reason didn’t have them on until I realised recently and turned them on, so i apologise to both you and any other potential anons for that)

And I’m glad you are taking interest in DTS! :3

Anyways, to answer your question, I do definitely want to turn it into SOMETHING and would love for that in the future! But I’m so early in the creation process + frankly just too unprepared currently, so no real concrete steps towards anything has been taken (or probably will be taken for a while), other than, well, trying to passively work on the story in general.

I’m also unsure what I’d even turn it into. I thought about potentially writing it into a book, especially initially. But Ive also thought that an animated series might be cool, but it would take a LOT of work and commitment that I’m unsure I’ll ever be ready for. I also also thought about turning it into a webcomic or something, but again that seems really intimidating for me (plus in my own experience, I’m not the best at comic making long term lol). And I’ve even considered making a game or something, but idk anything about game making or coding.

All and all, I’d honestly have to figure out what medium would work best for both myself and the story itself. Books/comics/animations/etc etc all have different uses and different things you can achieve (for example, in an animation, since it’s visual, you could have something subtle going on in the background while the “main” focus is on the foreground — for example a background character hearing something nonsensical that the “main” foreground character is saying, and making a confused face at it. But that might be harder to pull off in something like a book, at least in a way that captured the same exact vibes, since it’s text based). And overall different mediums might just fit the story and what I want to capture better. Plus, again, I’d have to figure out something that fits my workflow and abilities.

Considering that different details or even entire stories fit different mediums better than others, you’d think I’d wanna figure that out sooner than later… but I’d rather have far more developed than I do currently. Again, this story is still a huge WIP that’s bound to be changed, and I’m still figuring everything out as I go. It’s not concrete enough nor do I feel ready enough in general to tackle that question (although I’ll still keep it in mind). I want to get to a point where I can experiment without feeling too overwhelmed.

So, again, I’d LOVE to do that in the future and genuinely hope I can, and overall, YES, that is the plan eventually. but I’m nowhere near that yet lol.

Wait hold on I just realised you asked what kind of story and gave examples like “slice of life” etc. ummmm. Oops. Hold on time to make an already long post a bit longer.

Frankly, I’m still trying to figure that out, and how I want to specifically go about it.

My (current) general plan is to make it more like… idk what genre this would be, but basically just initially start out with it being a bit more casual, with Ellie getting used to the building, and meeting friends. And then occasionally it gets a bit more serious, especially when certain antagonists are introduced (but even then, currently, it’s more like “occasionally Ellie faces a main antagonist before that chapter of the story is dealt with and they aren’t AS relevant anymore” (although obviously I still want the antagonists to bring something permanent to the story — otherwise, why include them to begin with other than needing some temporary tension?) rather than there seemingly being one main overarching antagonist that’s the mastermind behind all the smaller antagonists). But then, eventually, Ellie discovers certain things, and it shifts into being a lot more “horror”-y. Maybe more than just “typical” horror— like uhhh. Idk my horror subgenres actually. But I want there to be SOME aspects of something dangerous and horrifying, yeah. Considering she meets… the horrors.

But then I worry that that’s too drastic of a tone shift???? So I have to figure out how to go about that, considering I have to be very careful, I think. Obviously I don’t want it to be completely spoiled, but I don’t want it to feel bait and switch or for people to feel lied to once the horror kicks in. I feel like a fair amount of foreshadowing + a very obvious vibe of “there’s something wrong here, even if it’s not obvious” would help, but then I don’t want the burn to be super slow?? like I don’t want it then to take too long to get to the horror, and I also don’t want to built up to it too much and have the horrors be disappointing when they come. And plus I don’t want the first half to be like.. ACTUAL horror. Nor do I want to completely undermine what the first half has to offer by just chalking the story up to what happens in the second half, since I feel like a LOT of important stuff happens in the first half. so. It’s a very big balancing act, and I’ll 100% have to be careful with the “promises” I make in the first part, as well as how I go about the execution of pretty much everything. But overall, again, the gist of it (by “it” I mean my current idea) is “average series with an established main problem/conflict + cool setting + occasional villains, which’s second half delves into horror + the real “meat and potatoes””, which hopefully isn’t too cliche
