Dancing Fae

Late last night it was

When I got up to open my window

And by chance looked out on a scene so rare

For below a faerie was dancing there

Tall and slender, the handsome man

Who stepped lightly near the forest edge

Graceful each gesture, each move

As he danced with the time span

How pretty that fae

With hair fair blonde

The loveliest creature I’d say

I’d never think I’d be so fond

He was gone when I went out to meet him

And I had hoped to know the thing

But such was a foolish whim

But on the wall he’d left me a golden ring

As far as my youthful eye can see

It was nice to catch his fancy
