psst mother i used to unofficially foster cats back home (unofficially bc there isnt an established shelter system) so like i've bottle raised kitties done antiparasite treatments baths etc. this time its "official" fostering bc i'm doing it w an organization but thank u again mother :>

Also make sure that you actually know what you’re getting into when you foster pets! I do that, and it means bringing cat illnesses into your home that you will need to pay for to get them better, and it means flea stuff that costs money, and vet visits that cost money, and the time and patience to work with the pets to get them to the point of being ready for a home. You really need to make sure that you have all of that to give them. I had thought about it for years before actually getting into it, and I’ve now spent almost $200 in the past two months just on meds for my cat because the two kittens I brought home gave him every illness out there, plus the added food and litter costs, plus the vet visits, and the time and energy. I had been thinking about it for YEARS before getting into it, and I thought I had it all planned and thought out and was ready for anything, and I wasn’t. xD I had a lot of surprises. So please make sure that you’re able to give pets EVERYTHING they need before you take that on!

Your health always comes first, ALWAYS. It was brave to take that year off, and it’s so so brave to come back to school. I’m proud of you! It’s so understood that you’re nervous. Can you try and think of what the reason is?
If you’re like me, then your worry is mostly about failing. And guess what? Failing is a part of life. That’s hard to live with (TRUST me), but here’s the thing. It’s also something you can survive. You are totally going to survive failure! And learning is the opposite of failing. It’s a good thing! So focus on how much you learn your first week!
Your first day, I want you to write a list of ONLY what you need to do in the morning. And then at lunch, I want you to write a list of ONLY what you need to do in the afternoon. Give yourself lots of slack to figure things out. You’re learning!
Take it one step at a time. You have advisors and other adults to go to for questions, and for advice, and for even just asking where the hell something is. You’ve got a great support network on your campus. Use it! 💜💜💜 You’ve got this. 💜💜💜💜💜💜
