Dalux Junk Removal, San Jose, CA
We were clearing out my father’s house and after a few tough hours of sorting, I started looking for a junk removal service. I called Dalux and Rodney agreed to come over the next day at 2 PM. He said they’d take everything. All we had to do was point at what they should remove. I found it a bit strange that he didn’t ask any questions (e.g., the size of the house), but I was tired so I let it slide.
The next day he texted to say that he was on the way from the dump. He and Chris arrived. I showed Rodney the house and what needed to be removed. He said he wouldn’t take the chemicals (the truck also said "we take everything") and that it was a huge job. He wanted cash right away. I mentioned the price near Chris and Rodney clearly didn’t want Chris to overhear how much he was charging.
He called another guy to come and assist and they did work hard from 3 PM – 10 PM. Rodney drove to the dump in San Jose once and came back, so by the end of the day, they had two truckloads. They returned the next morning to pick up the remainder. They would not take the chemicals and did not fully finish removing items in the garage.
We had organized a lot of the items into bags, but it took time to break the furniture.
During the walk-through, I told Rodney what to remove and what not to remove (plus the boxes to keep were labeled). However, he didn’t relay this info to Chris or Christian, and Rodney was at the dump, so I explained to Chris what not to toss. They had moved boxes next to the to keep items, so it looked confusing.
They didn’t bring water, so I bought some for them.
They broke down all the furniture into tiny wood bits and threw things from the top floor. The house was filled with debris and broken glass.
To his credit, Rodney was also hardworking and I should have asked more questions upfront. I also should have gotten multiple written estimates. We were pressed for time though and also visiting from out of town.
