— y’all, small story time!
so I was walking to the library this morning omw to go and study and on campus I notice this girl with a bunch of keychains on her side bag and I thought to myself, “that’s so cute, it reminds me of sakuya!” and so I take a closer look as she’s walking the opposite direction and I notice her wichu keychain?!!
so she’s got headphones on and I’m trying to get her attention but she can’t hear me calling after her so I go the opposite way to catch up with her before greeting and I’m like, “oh my gosh I noticed you back there and I saw your keychains and they reminded me of sakuya? your wichu is so cute!!” and I was so excited because for one, it’s very rare to find a kpop stan in the wild like this, especially in my small town university, and two, let alone an nctzen (it’s mostly army/carat/stay/blink around this country, maybe even atiny but not as much as the previously mentioned).
and so I ask her where she got it and she tells me she got the wishies album as a bday gift and so it came with it, but she was NOT RECIPROCATING MY ENERGY AT ALL, it’s giving she didn’t wanna talk to me whatsoever which made me even question if she was a kpoppie because she didn’t seem like she cared about the convo.
I then look down and notice she’s got a pc too, it was glitch mode jisung since I noticed his silver hair, and so I go, “your jisung pc is so cute too, I’ve got a few of my own too.” and she says “yeah thanks haha.” (once again with no interest whatsoever) and so I took that as my sign that my excitement and energy was not being matched and i was just being annoying so i said bye to her.
I called my best friend after that to tell her what happened but I was lowkey sad lol because I have no kpop friends at uni which really sucks and I thought this would be a great chance (once again because it’s so rare) but her energy wasn’t giving and I started second guessing maybe if I was too much but then again, I have never been in a situation where I met a kpoppie in public and they don’t get as excited to talk about kpop and be friends so yeah…
I did once meet someone that had like a sakura pc behind their phone during the uni’s open day (i was working for my sub-committee promoting) not too long ago and I showed them my ot5 tubatu wallpaper and they said “oh txt, I’m not really a boygroup stan” and no judgement but clearly I as a bg stan would not be able to make that friendship work :)
anyway, that’s been my “making kpop stan friends at uni” adventure and experience lately which has been a huge failure but hopefully I’ll be able to find a cool friend soon to hyper fixate with around here.
