Despite the few posts regarding this type of situation, I really feel like people need to be aware because this is actively happening on Tumblr right now.
Hi everybody, I hope youโre all doing okay. Unfortunately, I need to raise a flag about something that could easily happen to any of us, even if you think youโd never fall for a scam.
A few days ago, oomf told me and a few other creators about a new method scammers are using to target Tumblr accounts through DMs. And now that it almost happened to me, Iโm taking it seriously enough to make this public.
Hereโs how the scam works:
You receive a DM from someone claiming they โaccidentally reported your account,โ since you had the same picture as the account they were intending to report. They sound apologetic, friendly, and insist they need to โfix the reportโ by adding you on Discord. Once you accept, they ask you to change the email associated with your Tumblr account under the excuse of โverifying youโ or โreversing the report.โ
That is the scam. If you change your email, youโre handing over full access.
Itโs manipulative, and it preys on creators who donโt want their accounts taken down, plus they use those suspicious โdo you write with AI?โ messages and other baiting tactics that have been circulating recently.
Someone close to my friend almost lost all their information because of this exact trick: Here's the evidence:

Also, it's not your normal bot account that does that, it leggit looks like a normal fan account (but it could be that the account also got hacked and is impersonating as that person), so please, please stay alert. Tumblr will never ask you to switch emails, join Discord, or speak to a third party to โfixโ a report. If you ever get a message like this:
Do not add them anywhere.
Do not follow any instructions.
Do not change your email, password, or settings for them.
Just block, report, and move on.
Iโm sharing this so no one else gets caught off guard. Stay safe, protect your accounts, and look out for each other. If youโre a creator, writer, or artist, youโre especially a target.

"Oh yeah and then I have my new exhibition coming up later today, you're still gonna come for that right?" you pipe up excitedly over the phone making your way towards the art gallery.
This was the biggest step towards your career that you had been tirelessly working towards curating in school with the help of your mentor and professors, and Jake had been there supporting you throughout the entire process.
You hear slight shuffling and whispers on the other end of the phone before your boyfriend speaks up to respond.
"Ofcourse I'll be there, love. You know I always wanna be there for you." Jake responds, to which your smile grows feeling overjoyed at the thought of finally reuniting with your boyfriend after months of not seeing him due to his tour and overlapping schedules to yours.
Saying your last goodbyes and 'i love you's to one another, you began setting up your art to display around the art gallery and finishing off the last of the decor before the unveiling event that would be happening later that night.
Looking down at your watch, you grab your bag and phone making your way out.
"Four more hours before the event starts, I should leave to go get ready." you say to yourself as the simmering excitement and anxiety bubbled within.
It was finally the night you had been waiting for, through all the blood, sweat and tears, you had finally made it to the moment of celebration you had so anxiously been looking forward to.
The event was in full swing and everyone was loving your art, yet the one person you had been anticipating to see the entire night was nowhere to be seen.

Your thoughts had been so distracted and far off wondering around the room trying to find someone else you failed to even give her back half the energy she was giving you.

Your eyes light up as you notice a figure that felt familiar standing by one of your favourite pieces of artworks displayed for the exhibition.
"You're finally here... Mark? Mark! Hi oh my goodness, I didn't think you were gonna make it tonight?" you attempt to mask your disappointment as you notice your friend.
"Yeah I didn't think I would be able to either, but my schedule cleared up for the night so I wanted to come support a friend. Yo, this is so good dude." he says as you both go in for a short friendly hug.
"Well I'm glad you're here, I really appreciate it." you shyly thank him still not used to people complimenting your work.
You both then went on to catch up through the night as you explained the piece in front of him, leaving out the part about how your relationship with Jake was the very inspiration behind it.
As the night went by, your heart felt heavier as more people began to leave and congratulate you, but the one person you had wished was there was nowhere to be found.
"(Y/n)! Baby I am so sorry, our producer added in an extra hour of recording and that completely had my schedule fucked and then the boys wanted to eat together after that and I lost track of time- wait is the event already over?"
Jake rushes towards you, out of breath as he pushes up the sleeves of his button-up and a bouquet of your favourite flowers in hand ready to hug you.
You take a step back before giving a firm nod as you look down avoiding his gaze.
"Yeah you missed it Jake, but if you must know, it went really well. Everyone had a great time, loved the art too." you say softly as you watch the staff remove the artworks from the display.
"Oh I'm gonna be taking that one with me, thank you." you politely let the staff know as they kindly hand you the art piece you had wanted to surprise Jake with.
Reaching your hand out with the art, you show him as he gives you your bouquet and exchanges it to hold your artwork.
"I've never seen this one before..?" he says lightly brushing his hands against the canvas and his eyes look up to meet yours.
"This was a piece I was secretly working on to surprise you with tonight, but you pretty much missed the unveiling, consider this an early birthday gift from me to you."
Footsteps nearby catch both your attention as you blink back the tears that were threatening to spill and Mark turns around the corner with a smile as he comes over to you.
"I had forgotten my jacket so I came to quickly get it and say bye. Oh what's up Jake, good to see you again dude. Thanks for the invite again (Y/n). If you need a ride, you'll let me know." he briefly hugs you before bowing and waving to you both and making his way out.
"Mark was here..."
"Yeah I invited him, and he actually showed up to support me when he had some free time. I'm gonna leave now Jake, thanks for coming though." you fire back adjusting the strap of your bag on your shoulder ready to walk away and leave.
"I know you're mad and you have every right to be. I made a promise and I broke it-" Jake stutters trying to apologise and make it up to you.
"I think I just need some space right now, I'm gonna leave with Mark."
"Are you... are you cheating on me with Mark..." he croaks out, his voice breaks as his eyes water and his lips pout slightly.
"What? Jake are you being serious right now? How could you even ask me that?!" your steps halt turning back to him in disbelief as his mouth falls open to respond but closes again.
You don't bother to clap back again and turn on your heels leaving Jake alone and walk out the venue to find Mark awaiting you as he steps out to open the passenger door for you.
As you settle in and buckle your seatbelt, your gaze wonders towards the exhibition and you catch Jake in the distance looking down at the artwork in his hand, tears running down his face, you look away as Mark starts driving away and your eyes start to slightly burn as you look down at the flowers resting on your lap.
"Thanks for the lift Mark. Travel safely." you thank him getting out the car.
"No problem, and I hope you and Jake figure things out, I don't mean to pry or anything but I can tell you both really care for each other, don't lose that." he advises, you only briefly nod and thank him again before leaving to head inside your house.
Completely drained, your kick off your shoes and undress into your pyjamas, grabbing the closest hoodie, which happened to be Jake's, before climbing into your bed wanting nothing but to cry yourself to sleep.
Wrapping the blankets closer towards your figure hugging them, you silently cry to yourself as you wonder to yourself if this truly was the end of your relationship, or you would finally let go of your pride and apologise to Jake and talk things through with him rationally.
Too consumed by your swirling thoughts, you hadn't noticed the front door nor the bedroom door quietly opening and closing before warm arms wrapped around you, their head nuzzling between your neck as their warm breath fans across the crevice.
"Why are you here Jake, didn't think you would want to be around a cheater..." you break through the thick silence of the night.
"I shouldn't have accused you of something like ever cheating on me and I am so sorry, that was a complete dick move. And I am even more sorry that I wasn't there for you when you needed me the most."
"You didn't deserve that at all. You needed me to show up for you but I wasn't there and I hate that I made you feel unsupported." he continued softly brushing your stomach with his thumb.
He briefly let's go of you as you turn around to face him, your face unintentionally breaks into a smile at the sight of Jake's face as you notice his messy hair, your heart skipping a beat and your breath hitches slightly in awe having just momentarily forgotten the majestic face you had fallen for in the beginning.
His one hand reaches under your head pulling you closer into him, as the other gently strokes your face, his eyes gazing down into yours with so much endearment you could almost feel your heart melting in that moment.
Exhaling, the tension in your shoulders releases as you muster up the strength to respond, "I completely get you showing up late because of your schedules but you really hurt me Jake. I just wanted to spend this special moment with you and you weren't even there to witness it, and when you did show up, I got hit with cheating accusations by my boyfriend I love with everything in me."
"I know angel, and I will never forgive myself for my behaviour tonight, but please don't let what we have go, let me prove to you I still want us to work, nothing coming between us."
His thumb runs across your cheeks wiping away your tears before he pulls you in closer into his chest, kisses on the top of your head as he quietly comforts you and lulls your cries.
With the last of your resistance fading away, nothing but both your shallow breaths filling the room as your grip around his shirt tightens and he continues to stroke your back lightly.
"I'll never leave you, I love you so much. You have my entire heart." Jake whispers thinking you were long asleep but you had caught his words, a soft smile on your face engulfing yourself in his embrace.
The storm of the day finally give way to something calm, tender and fragile, but real.
Despite the distance between you both, you and Jake always found home with one another, and that was enough.

With a confident stride, you make your way towards the tubatu practice room in the Hybe building throwing the door open as the heads around the room turn towards you.
With your face set with mock seriousness and the slightly crumpled piece of paper clutched closely to your chest, your voice booms catching everyone's attention.
"Everyone, I have a special announcement to make." you state closing the door placing your items down, but the paper still in hand.
"Did you bring my iced coff-" Yeonjun stands up from the floor where he was stretching before halting in his steps as you abruptly cut him off.
"Shhh." you slice through his words sharply with a raise of your palm stopping him.
"I hereby officially declare this a 'no aegyo zone'."
You hastily paste the paper onto the wall for the members to see as their faces of confusion and shock look towards you processing what had just transpired, only for you to turn back to them with your arms crossed over your chest.
"Is this a serious new rule, or you're just messing with us?" Taehyun asks taking a picture of the sign lowly chuckling.
Clasping your hands together, you let out a sigh before nodding to Taehyun in response, "As serious as a heart attack Terry. I'm tired of the aegyo requests. I can't take it anymore. I'm not an aegyo machine like hyuka."
You dramatically feign sadness clutching your chest as you mentally recall all the moments the members have begged you to do aegyo for them because they just found yours to be so cute.
"There they go with their silly antics again. Just last month they had us all on a 'no rock, paper, scissors' movement." Soobin mumbles to one of the staff members nearby who softly chuckles at the situation.
"Yeah, (Y/n) claimed we had to figure out other ways to make decisions whenever we had group meetings. The last game had Soobin mad at Gyu for a week after losing to him and doing his laundry for two weeks straight." Yeonjun chimes in with a soft snicker having settled on a cup of water, seeing as his iced coffee was nowhere to be found.
"I was not bitter about that. I lost on purpose anyway..." Soobin mumbles crossing his arms over his chest sulking with a pout on his face.
On the other side of the room, Kai had been trying to get (Y/n) to cave and reconsider their decision to uplift the newly put in aegyo ban.
"So we can't even do cute little smiles or poses, or even puppy eyes whenever we want something from you?" Beomgyu asks pulling out his doe eyes on the spot with a soft smile.
"Correct. Not followin- wait what do you mean by that. You've been using those boba eyes of yours as a weapon of manipulation??" you gasp having heard the most shocking revelation of all.
His smile ever so slightly faltering, Beomgyu scratches the back of his neck avoiding your gaze, "Haha... what, no. I totally have not once conned you using aegyo..."
"He's lying! He used those puppy eyes of his to get you to help him and be his personal butler after he broke his leg a few months back! I caught him moonwalking when you weren't looking once!" Soobin reveals objecting, pointing accusingly at his younger member as Beomgyu's facial expression warped into that only seen as pure betrayal with his jaw dropped in sheer shock.
"Ha- Choi Beomgyu, you mean you made me piggyback your 60kg self downstairs when the elevator wasn't working at home, knowing you could've gotten down there yourself?!" you mutter slowly trying to not lose your mind, pinching your nose bridge realising you had been played and conned by your very own.
"Well you know... I couldn't just say no to the kind offer and your services." he defends himself tilting his head to the side cutely with his infamous boba eyes on display.
"This is your last warning Choi. And if any of you do aegyo- or make me do it, that's an extra session of cardio for the week!" you state matter-of-factly glaring at Beomgyu, who quivers at your bark, but nods in understanding.
"But what if it's just a tiny bit, a short wink?" Kai asks bouncing back and forth on his heels.
"I would much rather do fifty push-ups right now." you blatantly say as his mouth opens to say something but closing just as quickly.
Catching you off guard, Yeonjun rushes over to you with a kissy face before planting a short peck on your cheek before hugging you.
"Junnie... that's not gonna work. The ban still stands. Consider that your warning sir."
The boy only huffs with the drop of his head unwrapping his arms from around you, as you fight back a smile knowing you secretly hadn't minded his affection towards you at all.
Unexpectedly, practice went smoothly as ever, soon you would all be wrapping up.
"Soobin aegyo ending fairy!" Taehyun yells out at the end of the song as the other members laugh looking at you.
"Actually, how about we get our lovely (Y/n) to be our ending fairy for practice." he suggests, although the question came out more like a statement.
"Ya- Don't try and turn this on me and set me up, when have we ever needed an ending fairy for practice?" you question looking at him with the scrunch of your nose swatting his arm.
Yeonjun rushes in front of you looking in front of the mirror before he starts pouting and attempting to wink, to which he miserably failed due to his incapabilities to wink, "See how easy it is, just try it."
"And that's one extra week of cardio for you." you tell him with a glare jokingly shoving his face away as he laughs off to the side.
"Here's the camera, we need you to do your special aegyo set everyone loves~" Beomgyu encourages you placing his thumb and index fingers into a rectangular position like he's taking a picture of you.
You only look at him with a straight face not falling for his antics to get you to cave, but your next words were surely enough to scare him off again.
"Do that again and I'll really break that other leg of yours Choi."
"C'mon, three sets of aegyo is way easier than fifty push-ups." Kai says with a shrug before puffing out his cheeks and poking each one cutely.
Waving your arm out and profusely shaking your head, you disagree with the member having heard enough convincing, "And yet they're both just as painful Kai, my dignity is on life support over here, don't pull the plug on me."
"Okay how about this, we'll do a game of rock, paper, scissors. If I win, you have to do the nani ga suki aegyo challenge, if I lose, I'll do whatever you want." Taehyun ends up suggesting as his eyebrow quirks up challengingly.
He knew you weren't one to shy away from dares. And so did everyone else.
"Best two of three. You're on Kang."
You both proceeded to go the first round, you had thrown out rock and Taehyun had scissors.
Cheering to yourself you feel your heart race as all the members had now gathered to watch the two of you.
The second round had come about, you had gone with rock again, only this time Taehyun shot out paper winning the second round leaving the score at a tie.
The other members erupt in cheers for Taehyun, all seeming to want to watch you lose so you would subsequently have to do aegyo.
Eyes all around the room now focused on the intense game, hearts racing in anticipation with the last round, "Rock, paper, scissors, shoot!"
You went with paper and your worthy opponent cheers as he rises, the members all flooding him with hugs and jumping around the room as your shoulders deflate at the loss, Taehyun chose scissor.
"(Y/N) AEGYO!! WE DID IT!!" Soobin cheers as he breaks into dance and proceeds to tease you by pulling out the classic aegyo moves with fluttering lashes and his hands under his chin, smiling victoriously as if he had won himself.
It seemed no matter how far you could run away, no matter whatever you tried to avoid doing aegyo, the members always found a way to have it their way.
"Alright, alright! You guys win, the ban is lifted!" you huff having given up.
"Special aegyo request!" Beomgyu yells out with his phone in hand ready to record you.
"Don't keep pushing your luck Choi!"
Launching yourself towards him and headlocking the boy, he screams in terror as you playfully ruffle his hair as he dramatically cries for help, everyone simply laughing it off used to the two of you constantly bickering.
This was just another day of chaos that ensues within the txt practice room.
Clearly, your no aegyo rule was going to need a little... shaping.
Who knows what new rule you would be placing in for the members... maybe it was about time for that League of Legends ban...
