Pada tahun 2013 duo bersaudara Saiful (1988) dan Hanna (1997), memutuskan untuk membentuk sebuah band bernama Juno and Hanna. Lahir dan dibesarkan di Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Mereka menyatukan kepribadian unik mereka untuk menciptakan music, dimana Hanif kebanyakan menangani produksi ketukan dan konstruksi musik sementara Hanna menciptakan melodi dan menulis lirik berdasarkan pengalaman dan perspektif mereka tentang perasaan yang dirasakan oleh sebagian besar orang.
Juno and Hanna telah merilis debut EP “AIR” pada tahun 2015 yang berisikan 6 lagu, dan mereka telah perform di berbagai musik festival besar seperti Baybeats Festival Singapura, Goodvibes Music Festival 2016, Fred Perry Subculture Live and Record Store Day, Yayasan Sime Darby arts festival, Urbanscapes 2017. Mereka juga telah menjadi band pembuka untuk band internasional seperti Postiljonen (Swedia), Bottle Smoker (Indonesia), The Tress and The Wild (Indonesia), Arms and Sleepers (USA) dan Cigarettes After Sex (USA). Mereka juga telah ditampilkan di 8tv quickie, added to Lush 99.5 radio Singapore’s playlist, The Wknd live sessions, Juice magazine Malaysia, Bfm radio station, Nylon Mag Indonesia, Redbull Soundseekers, Popspoken Singapore, Itunes dan interview for VbuzzHD.

Halo Juno and Hanna apa kabar?
Hey guys! Khabar baik. We hope you guys are doing well as well.
Okay First, can you explain in general about Juno and Hanna?
Generally, Juno and Hanna is a synth pop siblings duo that started in 2015 from Johor Bahru, Malaysia and we love making music!
Juno and Hanna is a duo sibling group. It seems to be easier for both of you to make music together. Can you guys tell me the process of you two making music?
Yes honestly speaking we feel very comfortable with each other. Despite sometimes the media would crave some stories of us bickering and so forth, we wouldn’t categorize our exchange of thoughts as arguments it would be merely a discussion and a lot of sarcasm haha. Normally Juno would produce the beats and Hanna would continue with the melodies and lyric writing. If so happens Hanna came up with the basic beats and melodies, Juno would complete it by adding necessary adjustments. But for finalizing and mastering it is Juno who does it. I might say we do complete each other’s weaknesses, although it is not to say that we are enough, expanding do cross our minds.
Really good story from you guys. I have heard your debut album "Air", very impressive! Can you tell me the story of making this album?
Thank you for enjoying and listening to our debut EP. We did not expect this kind of reaction. The album consists of carefully selected songs from an abundant of songs that we have been writing since before Juno and Hanna. Our concept of writing is that we observe and confer from our surroundings and things that happen to ourselves or around us. And during that time, we were more influenced by heartbreak and unrequited love. As cliché as it might sound, that was the thing that circulated around our lives. Personally to me (hanna), I prefer to write about the small things that people tend to ignore as it will pass with time but I think that makes it unknown and undeveloped as a feeling. We should be aware of what we feel and know how to handle not ignore it. Hopefully, the next EP would show our maturity in thoughts.
Favorite songs from the album "Air" ?
Mine (hanna) would be ‘Best Never Had’ and for Juno would be ‘Intro’. Special to us would be ‘Air’
How would you calssify your music?
We’ve had troubles classifying our music but nonetheless it needs to be answered haha, closest would be dream pop.
Haha its Okay, next Who Are Juno and Hanna Biggest Influences? And whats your Favorite bands ?
Our biggest influences are Blonde Redhead, Sade, M83, London Grammar, Rhye and lots more but actually we don’t really depend on specific artist but we listen to specific songs from different artists. Our favourite bands are similar to our influences adding Mew, Blood Orange, etc...
The most impressive thing as long as you two formed this band, can you tell me?
There’s alot of impressive things we’ve experienced, to mention all would be alot. Some notable ones are Goodvibes, Baybeats. To us the most impressive is the people reacting to our music, the reaction is what drives us to improve.
The indie music scene movement in Malaysia from my observations is quite massive. How do you see the movement of indie music scene in Malaysia today?
We would say that generally all over the world indie music is slowly accepted of the younger generations but i might say the support for gigs have gone a bit down as to what it used to be. Nonetheless, quality musicians are popping up daily as technology is at the tip of our fingers.
Looking at your Instagram account post, it looks like Juno and Hanna is quite busy with the gig schedule. Is there a recent project that you run now?
Yes thankfully we are quite preoccupied in terms of gigs, however we did slow down alot due to the process of writing the new EP and for our personal matters as well. Since Hanna is a fulltime student, she does not really have any free time. Balancing is one thing but to dedicate to either fully is another matter. But basically, we are pressing hard on the new EP to be released next year. We have met up with a few talents to feature in our upcoming music videos.
Yes, hope your next EP & Upcoming Video work goes well and releases successfully. Last question. What is Juno and Hanna's dream that you guys really want to achieve in the future?
A long dream of ours is to be able to tour overseas, that has been our goal ever since. Although, now it does seem in reach hopefully, so that would be next in our bucket list. To begin with we never really expected people’s reaction to be this positive so our main goal is to always make quality music that people can be proud of and ponder upon it as well. We hope it influences the young minds to interpret it in their own way according to their contexts. Thank you so much for this interview, we are very honoured.
