"Ohh, oh my gosh! I am so sorry," you said and you tried to picked up the books that just fell. Until a hand stopped you.

”______?”

You looked up to see the source of the voice. Jinhwan? Was that really him. The Jinhwan who had been your best friend. The Jinhwan who you crushed on for five years. The Jinhwan whom you had not seen since you graduated?

"Jinhwan? Is it really you?"

"As real as I’ve ever been," he said with that million dollar smile which you had always fallen for. You felt your feelings for him coming back in just fractions of seconds.

No, no. I must not do this. I have a boyfriend who I love and loves me back. It’s his fault for not contacting you after so long. No. You thought. 

"Where were you all these years?"

"I’ve been studying abroad ever since we graduated. Sorry I didn’t tell you or try to contact you"

"That’s fine.."

You spent the rest of the day with him. Catching up on things you missed for the years. There was just something about him that sent butterflies to your stomach and flew you to cloud nine. 

That face. That smile. Him. I missed it so much. You thought again.

AT NIGHT

"Where have you been?" your boyfriend, Junhoe asked with a serious tone.

"Out with a friend"

"Who?"

"Ugh! It’s none of your business!"

"You didn’t answer my question"

"I ran into my old friend Jinhwan this morning. We hadn’t seen each other in a long time"

"So it’s a guy. Why didn’t you tell me?’

You were too lazy to answer him.

"Yes it is, obviously. And I never asked you who you were going out with, right? You could be cheating on me and I wouldn’t even know. It’s too late for this. Good night"

And with that you left Junhoe hanging in the conversation. You barged into your room and slammed the door. You took a hot shower and got ready for bed. Junhoe wasn’t even beside you.

*buzz*

Jinhwan: Hey ______, it’s me!^^ Sorry if I’m disturbing you or anything, but I don’t have any plans tomorrow. Wanna hang out?

You hesitated for a bit.

______: Umm.. Sure! When and where?

JInhwan: 8 pm. Let’s meet at that park we used to hang out at!

You smiled at your phone screen. Unable to get Jinhwan out of your mind. You Turned the lights off and went to bed. Junhoe still wasn’t there.

What you didn’t know was that Junhoe was staying up almost all night, worrying about you. He loved you so much that he didn’t want to lose you. He felt scared. He felt insecure. He felt jealous.

The sunlight shining through the curtains woke you up. Usually, you’d be in Junhoe’s arms right now, telling him to wake up. But it was not like that. You felt a little empty inside.

You walked out of your room and saw Junhoe sleeping peacefully on the couch. Arms crossed, phone on top of his chest. You felt bad. Did your words last night hurt him?

You walked over to him and studied his face. Handsome as ever. Only this time his eyes were dry and wrinkly.

You couldn’t resist the urge. You got closer to his face and kissed his forehead. I’m sorry.

You stood up and proceeded to the kitchen to make breakfast. You put the cooked food on the table and took some of it to eat yourself. Junhoe was still asleep.

You did your morning routine and headed outside. You didn’t feel like being at home. It’s not that you didn’t want to be with Junhoe. It’s just that you needed sometime for yourself.

The whole day, you weren’t home. You did things to distract you from coming home. And at 7 pm, you walked to the park. It was right beside your apartment.

Junhoe was worried the whole day. He didn’t know where you were. You didn’t even contact him  and he was too scared to contact you.

"Hi JInhwan!" you said excitedly.

"Hey ______! Great too see you again"

You walked around the park with Jinhwan, reliving your childhood memories and talking to each other, losing track of time. It was 11pm all of a sudden.

"Umm.. ______"

"Yeah?" you turned to him.

"I think I like you. No, I love you. I’ve always loved you, ever since I met you.."

"Listen here. Honestly, I really liked you as well. I really did. But you never even noticed. And when we graduated, you didn’t even call or text me once. Do you know how hurt I was. I have a boyfriend now, and I love him. I’m really sorry Jinhwan”

"But.."

Jinhwan didn’t even finished his sentence. He grabbed your arm and pulled you, leading you towards a dark alley.

"Wh..What are you doing?"

Jinhwan didn’t answer. You prayed that whatever is in Jinhwan’s mind would not happen. You hoped that Junhoe would magically appear and save you.

Your prayers were heard.

”______!” Junhoe shouted.

He gave Jinhwan a quick hard punch on his jawline.

"What the he-"

"Stay away from my girlfriend, asshole!"

Junhoe dragged you and ran home with you.

"I’m really sorry, Junhoe. I must’ve hurt you. I should have listened to you. I’m really sorry"

Junhoe didn’t even answer. He just hugged you. 

"That’s okay. I know you didn’t mean it. Sorry I was being really impatient yesterday. Jealousy took over me"

He showed you his rare signature smile that made your heart flutter even more than Jinhwan’s. 

"So.. We’re all good now, right?" you asked

"Yup!"

He leaned towards you and you felt a pair of soft lips on yours.

"Oh, and don’t think I didn’t know you kissed me this morning"
