I recently started with concerta. At my first doctor's appointmen I was told that i would probably have to go up to a dosage of 60mg a day. (Im 5.4 and average weight with a good heart) Now I had an appointment via the phone and was told that 36mg would be enough 'cause he found me to be small. What is the average dosage? I mean Does 36 sound little? 18mg didnt help so worried that 36 wont do much difference. If 36 does not work that well does that mean that concerta does not work for me?

Concerta and other stimulants are not normally dosed based on weight or size, it depends on what dose actually helps the person. 36mg is what my doctor started me on when I was taking it, and it sort of worked for me but then 54mg was way too much. This page at drugs.com has a chart that shows starting dose and maximum dose for people based on age. For adolescents there is a warning that it should not exceed more than 2mg/kg/day with a maximum dose of 72mg, so it all depends on how much you weigh.
