Yeah you’re probably right about the redemption arc. [sigh] I honestly think original Crowley would roll his eyes at that kind of shit, but whatever. 

And I agree that people tend to attribute Sam’s cure for Crowley being softer, but that doesn’t mean it’s genuine affection for the boys or that he has EVER had genuine affection for them before that, hahah. Again, I think he likes them adversarially, and maybe has even been amused by them, but never have I believed he really cared about either one of them.

omg "oh no why is sam being mean to VILLAIN" hahah it's totally understandable that sam wants him dead... i mean may not want him to die but i get where he's coming from... and tbh it's long over due

I think the issue is that a ton of Crowley fans tend to woobify him, which is REALLY odd to me because Crowley has never struck me as the kind of character who gives a shit?? He LIKES that he’s evil and dangerous and untrustworthy. That’s his identity (or HAS been at least) and he revels in it. He doesn’t need his intentions and motivations to be explained or softened because he doesn’t give a shit if his motivations and intentions are considered not honorable. He’s the KING OF HELL. He doesn’t need sympathy, he doesn’t crave it. 

I hate when people woobify Dean, but I at least can see how people get there because Dean wants to view himself as martyr, always fighting the good fight. But Crowley is a demon and he takes pride in lying and double-crossing his enemies. There is no reason to sit around and feel sorry for him being misunderstood or getting his feelings hurt when he’s getting exactly what he thrives on.

The worst thing this show can do to Crowley is actually make him care about the boys. It has always been so much better with him using them as tools, truly, and only hinting at the idea that he might enjoy them adversarially. I hope he can pull himself together and be who he really is by the end of this season, if he is going to die. (And if they try to give Crowley a redemption arc before he dies while we brutally and violently murder lady villains with no chance for that, I’ll SCREAM. But that’s a whole other post, hahaha.)
