thinking about the losers all having a sleepover with beverly for the first time and like. they’re all boys they’re used to “boy sleepovers”, what are they gonna do now that beverly is here????? like obviously they all love her but they’re not too sure how she’ll react to their burping contests and towel-whipping fights. (richie, still in his ‘who invited molly ringwald into the group’ phase keeps insisting that she won’t like their sleepovers)

but then like, 20 minutes into the sleepover beverly says out of nowhere “i want to pierce my ears.” the other losers are like uhh ?? ok ??? maybe we can go and you can make an appointment tomorrow-

but before they’ve even finished their sentence beverly is already pulling out a sewing needle from her backpack and shoving it through her earlobe (she saw her older cousin do it once and thought, how hard could it be?) and the boys, watching in both horror and being very impressed, at that moment realize that beverly is, and always will be, way cooler than any of them are (and how “girl sleepovers” are just as, if not more crazy, than “boy sleepovers”)

i am reading this paper on phoenician colonization in iberia and it's actually been suggested through the study of inscriptions that the phoenicians that arrived in iberia actually came from southern palestine and egypt, and that's why there was so many egyptian iconography and religiosity in that area. man i love history.
