Just watched the Nat Geo account of the Queensland Floods.

"Australia's Great Flood." pretty good, actually. mostly accurate. good pictures/video of what came at everyone. didn't mention some things, but things i understand they wouldn't, i suppose.

so. that's what was coming at us. and did...yeah.

I was surprised they didn't extend the part about the volunteers. and there were waaaay more then 50,000, just noting.

at one stage, it mentioned City people having 48 hours to prepare. we didn't have 48 hours to prepare. we had since Jan 11, abouts. at least i think that was the date. the day after the main events. they couldn't hide the facts that by that point, as the river had risen 5 metres, and was expected to go another, oh, 5 more. at least where i was. 12 hours to evacuate. less, really.

goshdangit government. why did you fail to mention it sooner? because it was a large part YOUR FAULT that it was as bad as it was? why didn't you release the water in wivenhoe dam BEFORE it reached 99%, which was still BEFORE the bloody wall of water actually hit Brisbane? Oh, that's right. you wanted to use the water. keep it to sell it off. you didn't listen to ANYONE who told you that it was pretty bad. that there was a lot more water. so when the rest of the water came, you had to release the flood gates lest the dam itself crack and obliterate everything.

with your actions, you practically doubled the size of the water.

And, to add vinegar to the wounds, didn't you end up giving the f*ckers in charge of wivenhoe a massive bloody pay rise?

...I may or may not rightly have some issues with the way the vultures Queensland/Federal government handled everything in general.

the funny thing is, i'm not alone. largely, not alone.
