they're so amazing I love them so much. but they don't really count as a rivalry (especially compared to hororen) because the animosity is entirely one sided and also slows down real fast. ren starts out being the most 13 year old ever, which is to say angsty and murderous, but he chills out with the murderous part really fast and their dynamic just becomes this

and then yoh just does this whenever he's asked to make important plot decisions

the one time ren dies before death loses all meaning yoh, because he's the best, immediately drops out of the plot tournament he's wanted to be in since he was 4 to get an 11 year old cult leader to resurrect him (keep up people) and it's very wholesome in a depressing kinda way. he would do that for most people but it's especially funny because of how pissed ren gets about his no-homo destined rival giving up his dreams to raise him from the dead without his consent

they're just so silly the dynamic of incredible mutual trust with this one sided insane rivalry is so fun and I love them so much
