Axel's Best Man Speech
Let me just start out by saying I’m extremely nervous… so I hope you’ll take a little pity on me and someone will at least cough when I pause for laughs. *he pauses* I think I heard a titter in the back there! I’m doing way better than I thought I would already. Enough of my dazzling charisma, we’re all here to celebrate the union of Griffin and Riley… Except for me, I was forced to be here by Griffin and stayed for the cake, I barely know the blonde. *grins over at Riley and Griff* I met Griffin at a time when we were both struggling, struggling to fend for ourselves, find a place to sleep and keep our heads in the face of adversity. Little did I know though that Griff had a whole other struggle he’d been keeping to himself for many years, his love, affection and utter devotion to Riley. Of course, me being me, this went over my head entirely, thankfully I had people like Olivia around to show me was right before my eyes because to not see the adoration in the looks those two gave each other was not only incredible but also a grievous deprivation. Luckily I caught on and had been silently willing these two to tie the knot ever since. They are two of the most wonderful human beings I have ever met and I couldn’t be happier to be stood here right now at their wedding as Griffin’s best man… *after a moment* Griff… *looks at him and gives a smile* Everyone loves you, you’re a bouncing ball of sunshine and so, it makes it all the more amazing to me that, of all people, you chose to be friends with me. It is my absolute privilege to call you my best friend… you’ve made me laugh, made me laugh at your expense… and actually made me a better person. I can only tell you that you are not just my best friend, you are a brother to me and that leaves me with two brothers I would do absolutely anything for. *clears his throat because he’s a manly man and does not have a lump in his throat* Including make a speech I am certainly not qualified to give… *takes a breath* If everyone would please raise their glasses *raises his own* To Batman and Catwoman! *takes a drink*
