Hey, so if anyone out there is wondering if this is ok…THIS IS NOT OK.
This person commented on another fic of darthsydious’ and asked if she had a copy of the fic “Uncle Mycroft” because it used to be on ffn and they said they loved it. Darthsydious replied and kindly told them yes and that she would post it to AO3. One day later and this person goes ahead and posts the fic as you see above! 😳 So 1- clearly they already had a copy of it seeing as they chose to post it themself, and 2- (most importantly) they never once asked if they could post anything, even temporarily.
So just to make sure we’re all on the same page here, no you cannot ever post someone else’s fic unless they’ve given you direct permission to do so, written credit or not, temporary or not. Doesn’t matter. Just like with reposting art, DON’T DO IT. 🤬😤
(Btw, I’m not doing this to prompt anyone to find and harass this person. Darthsydious has already told them to remove the fic. I’m doing it because if this person is clueless, others likely are too. And everyone should know this is some serious fandom bad form.)
