Not to be stating a blatant fact but I think why the queer and neurodivergent community are such a huge portion of the watcher fanbase is because the founders are so deeply weird

the writers mentioned the dream smp was semi-scripted, and it seems like a lot of people took that to mean “it is 100% structured and coherent and will always flow seamlessly on the level of scripted netflix specials with directors, professional scriptwriters, editors, and multiple takes.” that’s just unrealistic – 95% of it is still improv, there’s no central DM to co-ordinate events, and there are dozens of players with free will and clashing agendas. of course it’ll feel jokey and clumsy and messy sometimes!! the dream smp’s greatest strength has always been its heart, and i don’t mind the plot being a little disconnected if it means the people involved are having enormous amounts of fun
