"Why are you whispering" Remus to your choice
Sneaking around the others’ space had become a routine for Deceit. When their space ran out of food, or became too cold, or Deceit had to return something one of his had “borrowed” from the others, Deceit would slink into the shadows late at night, staying as alert as possible for any late night light sides.
He was terrified at the thought of what could happen to him if someone found him. The idea of Logan or Patton finding him was less scary, Logan would most likely try to provide aid, and Patton, after his initial freak out, would fake niceness to Deceit until he was able to get the snakey side to leave. No, Patton and Logan weren’t scary at all.
What scared him was the idea of Roman or, god forbid, Virgil finding him. Roman would be quick to pull out a sword and demand explanation, and Deceit’s tired, foggy from the cold mind would have to come up with some silver-tongued lies. Virgil would… He’d either yell at Deceit or give him a glare that froze Deceit’s bones more than the chill of his home ever could. If Virgil yelled, then more of them would wake up and come to see what the commotion was. If Virgil was quiet, seething and sneering at Deceit even daring to show his face, it would hurt so much more than the humiliation of being caught. He would sink back to his home as fast as possible. He would scrub his scaled face as if he could wipe away the burn of Virgil’s icy glare. He would get lost in a pool of memories and nostalgia to rival Patton’s room, until eventually Remus found him and forced him out of his grief induced state.
Deceit shook the thoughts from his mind, focusing on the task at hand. One would think that they would keep some spare blankets around their space or, hell, even fix the fucking heater. Any blankets he’d snatched always seemed to reappear in the others’ space the next day. Remus always promised to fix their heater soon but as soon as the words left his mouth he completely forgot about them. Useless- no, now isn’t the time to get irritated at Remus.
Deceit gave a shiver, pulling his capelet close as if it would keep any body heat he had from leaving him. He’d memorized where the others kept their unused blankets at this point, so all he had to do was keeping moving forwards and-
“Boo.” A hand grabbed his shoulder and the only thing that kept Deceit from screaming was his own hands flying up to silence himself.
A cackle from behind him made him relax just a little, but not much.
“What are you doing here?!” He whisper-hissed, turning around to glare at Remus.
The other shrugged, “I was bored and saw you leaving. So I followed you.”
Deceit sighed before placing his hands on his hips, a gesture that Virgil used to point out made him look like an angry mom, “Go back to our space! I’m just getting some extra blankets.”
“Why are you whispering?” Remus asked, at normal Remus-volume, which was pretty damn loud.
“So I don’t get caught, idiot, now go-!”
“You could always just ask to keep a blanket permanently, you know.”
It was Remus’ turn to almost scream, but Deceit covered his mouth last second. A light flicked on to show and tired looking Logan staring at them, unamused as ever.
Logan tossed a heavy blanket into Deceit’s arms, “And just so you’re aware, neither of you are very quiet talkers.” With that, Logan turned on his heel and went back to his room, leaving Deceit flushed with embarrassment and Remus leaning down the hallway to try to get a better look at Logan’s butt as he walked away.
Deceit sighed again before shoving the blanket into Remus’ arms, “Never follow me again.”
“But it’s so much fun scaring you!”
“Not for me.”
