Sony has announced that PlayStation physical discs will stop production in 2028 January

Sony says it’s because of digital games outweighing physical

“The strategic shift will have no impact on physical games already released or those that are planned for release before January 2028,

but the ramifications of the announcement are huge.

The second-hand video game market will obviously take an enormous hit if people were no longer able to trade in their unwanted PS5 games. Retailers are also likely to feels some negative effects too.“

I've seen so many peoples responses to Sony's choice to discontinue producing discs being "i don't care, i haven't bought a disc in years". It's genuinely baffling the lack of critical thinking these people have - just because it doesn't affect them they don't believe anyone else is being negatively affected 😭

What you see in the photo above are the Dōbutsu no Mori+ instruction manual and game disc.

Dōbutsu no Mori+, of course, is the Japanese GameCube game that later became Animal Crossing.
