'Running back and forth', the second piece in my series 'Just playing'. Commercial and handspun embroidery threads and beads on patchworked fabric, 20x20 cm (8x8 inches).
I have been working on a series of 5 pieces called 'Just playing', with each piece embodying an element of way children play, based on my own recollection from when I was a child. This piece is all about the joy of running and racing. Not someting I enjoy anymore, but I did as a kid.
I am making and finishing these pieces out of order, because I am making them trough play. I am taking the time to look and feel and trust my intuition, going where my impulses take me within the limitations I set for myself beforehand, such as the focus on geometric shapes and the palette.
The piece still needs to be washed, ironed, and have a hanging sleeve stitched on, but those will happen once I have slightly more time and energy. There is no rush.
