From different locals, regions, countries or folklore, I’m just curious asking freely. 🪨🤔
How are called, named of local folklore or with traditions are some of your local fossils and rocks ? Be free to add and reply here in the comments or tags.
Examples are Belemnite / Orthoceras - called here „Donnerkeile“ or the Echinoids as „Steinkern“ „Fairy Loafs“ or „Snake Eggs“ from medieval times. Or the popular Petosky stones of the fossiled corals or Thunder Eggs rocks.

Just one part of an cut small brown ammonite fossil again. Spontaneous. 👀
So guys here on the geological rocky side.
What have I found now ? Speaking of the banded rock here, not local on my findings.
This banded one., I’m assuming some direction to jasper and not directly to agates.
Was Today on a gravel bed on an parking lot, one of those from MC Donald’s, full of different dull quarz rocks, some with Quarz-veins and several pebbles of red stones which was like red chalkstone but without any fossil traces. Sadly.
So i was assuming to find some orthoceras chalk with the nautiloide fragments, or an coral, but it was an wasted trip. So i ended with the handful of this rocks, mostly Quarzes.
Have seen some rocks, also coming along from one area with the heather plant fields, and also the location how locals pieles up the small stone towers regularly.
They stacked up, others letting them falling down and again kids etc will build now ones.
Of course I have looked on all rocks here, no fossils on them. But saw some shards of chert.
This rock has some, two small corals likely rugosa or some species in it.
Found an other rock 🪨 on that railway railroad with the rocks, mostly schist, but some reddish orthoceras-chalk limestone is also there further on the tracks, now witnessed.
