Oof... Hi hello. Yes um... I'm not sure when I'm gonna get back to this stuff. Consider me on a.... Lengthy hiatus. I think I will come back when the new book comes out... But right now I'm just.... Ugh. It's terrible but I've got too much going on. I've been dragged into old and new fandoms alike... And mentally I'm just... Blegh.

Basically. There was a death in my family back in May. And ever since then I've been caught in an endless loop of depression and being stressed out. Might be moving soon which may or may not involve having to find a place that allows dogs. Cuz my puppy is coming with me.

And yes my puppy is absolutely perfect. Her name is Layla and she the sweetest little Malshi pup. She is admittedly one of the things that's been keeping me going. And between trying to train her. Mental and physical illness... It's just been a lot. Not to mention Covid stressing me out. As I've mentioned before I have an autoimmune disease so it can get a bit scary from time to time.

Anyway... Just wanted to say. Hi. I'm alive. I am gonna just... Remain on hiatus until further notice. I think I might start back up again when the new book comes out. But when I do I think I'm gonna just... Avoid drama. This fandom can get so dramatic sometimes. Not necessarily a bad thing but it's sent me spiraling before which might be partially why I just can't do things right now. I do still draw dragons from time to time though so I might be posting those here. Got a nice new drawing tablet and anything. Guess... Thanks for sticking with me guys. I do love y'all. Just sorry that my brain is always big dumb these days.

What I love about this series is that there are so many grey morals. Most characters have two sides to them even the villains (not all but at least some of them).

I mean. I know this is a "controversial" thing in the fandom. (Honestly, sometimes this fandom can be so childish.) But I love the fact that the Hivewings aren't one-note and just a bunch of bad guys. For the most part, a lot of them are families. Could they have maybe not all have been racist slave owners? Yes. But people forget how raising someone in this manner is ultimately what shapes them.

This kind of hits home for me personally because my mom actually grew up in a society very similar to this. Where she would have teachers and even family who would tell her that "they were better" because of their race. God made us this way-blah blah racist diatribe."

But luckily for her, she had a dad who never fell for that crap and she actually even had teachers who would teach it when they were being supervised but turn around and tell their students not to believe a word of that rubbish. Only for some of them to be turned in by those same students and subsequently losing their jobs.

I'm just saying it's so easy to fall into that trap of hating one side or the other when honestly people are so much more complicated than you think. While it's important to take everything with a grain of salt you should also have a little more faith in people. There will always be good people and bad people and it's so good that Sutherland keeps this in mind in her narrative.

Anyway thanks for coming to my ted talk. Just remember to always keep an open mind. People can surprise you. Often in some of the best ways.

So I drew Acacia. And honestly I think she might end up being my official main Wingsona now just because of all that response to my original post.

Swallowtail is still going to be a thing because I love her to bits but I feel like Acacia must have been calling to me or something. Haha!

Little tidbits about the design.

Yes. Her eyes are blue. Thats because my eyes are blue and why the heck not?

Her spines are particularly pointy and pale and thats because they are based off the thorns on acacia's. Which are wicked looking.

The scales on her neck are shaped like Acacia leaves.

(Also I know the shadows are wack but I've been working on her all day and I'm tired!)

So yeah. Here's Acacia. Aka "better Acacia.' Hehe. Wait till my sister sees this.
