Just Hold on chapter seven!?
Two months passed by, the new house was empty without Harry. Everything was moved in, except Harry. I looked around the kitchen for a tea cup. I reached in the cupboard and pulled it down to the counter. I poured in the tea and made my way to the couch. I sat down on the couch, calling Dixie over to the couch. She ran up to me, jumping next to me. She rested her head on my lap, shutting her eyes and falling asleep. I drank my tea, petting Dixie’s head. Larry rested in Harry’s ‘man chair’ with his head on the arm of the chair.
“I know... I miss him too.” I said, feeling the emptiness attack me.
I let the tears fall, not trying to top them at all. I ran my fingers through my hair, like Harry. I tried to have dimples, like Harry. I tried to mimic everything he did in order to fill the emptiness. I even tried curling my hair to look like Harry. But it just wasn’t working. Nothing in the world could ever replace him... Nothing.
“Hey babe.” Harry said, answering his phone.
“Why’d you call?” He asked
“Just miss you loads. It’s weird sitting here in the nursery thinking that our baby is going to be in here... And you’re probably not going to even be there.” I said, rocking in the rocking-chair.
There was silence from Harry’s end. I turned the volume up, to make sure I hadn’t turned it down. I listened carefully as I heard something from the other end. Harry crying.
“I’m coming home.” He said, his voice wobbly.
“Yes... you’re coming home in a week.” I said, making my way to our room.
“No. I mean tomorrow. The boys can live without me for a week.” He said, sounding as if he were opening drawers.
“HARRY!” I yelled, “Listen to me. I’m fine. You stay for a week, I mean it’s not like you WANT to see how fat I am...” I said, smiling at my stomach.
“You’re SURE you can handle a week?” He asked, sounding as if he were plopping down.
“I’ve gone nearly two months. One week won’t kill me.” I said, rolling my eyes.
I ended up talking to Harry until I fell asleep. When I woke up my phone was on 4%. I plugged it in and read my texts.
good morning babe<3 6 days.
I giggled as I made my way to the kitchen. I poured myself some cereal and sat down at the breakfast bar. I checked the time, 10:47. I finished eating and headed for the shower. I stepped into the warm water, feeling my tight muscles loosen as the water ran down me. After my shower I dressed in pajama’s and headed for my home for the day; the couch.
The next four days flew by. I couldn’t help but watch the door, waiting for Harry. I reached for my phone, the countdown said 22 hours and 59 minutes. I sighed and set my phone down, feeling a deep pain shoot through my body. I ignored it and rested my head back down on the pillow. I shut my eyes and attempted to sleep, but the pains kept coming. Some worse than others. I reached for my phone, but it was too far away. I tried harder to reach it, but the pain held me back. Shutting me out from help.
I called Katelyn to check in before I went to sleep. No answer. She was probably already asleep. I set my phone on the night stand and crawled into bed next to Louis. He was sound asleep. I laid down and shut my eyes, trying to get Katelyn out of my mind. We had a WEEK until our baby was born. A WEEK until I was a Daddy. One. Week.
My fingers traced over my phone. I applied pressure to it, sliding it towards me. I hit speed dial four, Anne. The phone rang twice before a sleepy Anne answered.
“Hello?” She asked as if I was waking her up.
“Anne! M-my my stomach... ANNE!” I screamed, applying the death grip to my phone as pain ran through me.
“Katelyn!?” She asked, “Katelyn just hold on! I’ll be RIGHT THERE!” She said, hanging up.
I screamed as the pain worsened. Larry and Dixie jumped up on my bed, Dixie was barking while Larry tried to comfort me. I screamed louder this time, feeling the baby kick me. I dug my nails into the bed, I clenched my jaw shut, trying to block the pain.
“KATELYN!?” Anne called from the downstairs.
“I’M UP HERE!” I yelled, trying not to let the tears fall.
I heard Anne race up the stairs, causing Larry to freak and investigate the scene. Dixie barked for Larry. He came bolting back with a frantic Anne behind him.
“How are you?” She asked, stroking my hair.
“Anne.. Anne it hurts!” I yelled, tightening my grip on the bed.
“I know.. We just have to drive 10 minutes and everything will be ok, ok?” She asked, keeping her cool. I nodded fiercely, trying to muster up the courage to walk down the stairs. Anne slid one arm of hers around my back and helped me down the stairs. I could barely walk. With each step I took, a bolt of pain shot up my body. When we got outside Anne set me in the backseat and floored it to the local hospital.
Once inside, I was swished away by doctors and nurses leaving Anne alone in the waiting area.
“WAIT!” I said to the nurse, begging her to stop. “ANNE! CALL HARRY!” She nodded and took out her phone. The last thing I heard before I got to my room was a frantic Anne telling Harry it was time.
