I personally think the world would’ve been a better place if Kishi continued with the “it’s not personal, it’s our job to hurt each other and get hurt in process” dehumanization thingy like damn. Such a living weapon behaviour - forgiving whatever harm is done to you because it's simply their (and, by extention, your) job.

I also mayhaps think that despite that Hayate's close friends are very worried about him and, as human people with (repressed) human emotions they need someone to "blame". I mean, I really wouln't want to admit that my friend got (almost) killed and it's normal. Even tho they know it's a regular occurence where one shinobi gets killed by another because that's their job, it's literally what they all do.

So it's like, "I know that's what we all do and I know it's normal but I still love you and wish you had a different fate", except they all are emotionally repressed and their only coping mechanisms are either Issues What Issues? or I'mma Kill Myself (on a mission). It's strange to think about Ian having in laws. Line we lived with mickey and his in laws. We know what mickey is like as a brother in law and an uncle and even as a son in law. But Ian around mickey's family, as official married in laws? I need more of that please Mel. What's his relationship with Iggy/Lou/Jaime/other milkoviches like? I think we both agree that Sandy and Debbie find themselves back together at some point. Could she become a sister in law too? Ian as an in law is so interesting

aww 🥺 i bet they're fond of the little weirdo. they like to pick on him, but it's all in good fun. ian's a good sport, and they get a kick out of it when he rags on them in return. they also like that ian calms mickey down when he gets Worked Up and yells at them all 😭 and they all agree that mickey is way nicer to be around when ian's there.

when they drunkenly set off firecrackers in the backyard, ian is standing by with his first aid kit so they feel at liberty to clown around 😌 maybe they even listen to him when he warns them not to set them off on the roof?
