Just Two Kids - Closed RP, AU, Tulio and Mirage
[Set on the streets of Spain, set at the time of 'The Road to El Dorado'.]
Mirage ran. She ran through the dusty streets, bare feet pounding on the sun-baked ground. Her long, unkempt blonde hair streamed behind her as she ran, and the warm wind rushed into her face. Whenever she ran, she felt so much more free. Because when she ran, she was able to get away from her troubles.
Like the trouble she was having right now, for example. She had been reprimanded harshly by her school teacher. So, the solution was easy to see, in her eyes. She simply ran from the classroom, the school building, and into the streets. Her father would rant at her later for this, but she didn't care. He'd have to find her first. Because running off was a habit for young Mirage, she knew the streets well, and had her own little hiding places that no one else knew about (or so she hoped).
Why was Mirage so rebellious like this? Simple. It was the unfortunately all too commonly heard of scenario: a parent dies, the remaining one struggles to cope alone with the child. In Mirage's case, it was her mother. Mirage had felt her mother always understood her. But not so much for her father. He may have meant well, but because of the bad turn of events in their family, they had grown apart.
Maybe it had been an attention seeking thing at first, Mirage's rebellious behaviour. But now, she seemed to be making a habit of it in daily life. Slowing her pace as she reached a bustling market, Mirage snatched an apple from a stall without anyone noticing, and shoved it in the pocket of the simple frock she wore, before making her way to one of her hidey holes. That is, if no one stopped her.
