Estelle's first time playing "spin the bottle" lands her with the task to kiss another girl--but she's totally straight…right?

Estelle imagines "spin the bottle" at a Friday night party will be uneventful. She can kiss boys on the cheek--notably, this was deemed the "Estelle Clause"--so she's eager to finally participate in a peer activity she's heard so much about.

However, instead of a boy, her bottle spin lands on Judith, a very pretty girl, and Estelle is quick to blurt out, "Sorry, I can't kiss girls."

Judith chuckles, pokes her own cheek. "Not even a little peck?"

Estelle's face heats up at the thought. "No, I...I can't, I'm--"

"Another straight girl playing spin the bottle in a co-ed group?" Judith quips. 

Estelle looks down at her lap. She projects that Judith is as annoyed with Estelle as Estelle is with herself. "Oh...yes. I'll go...somewhere else."

A few in the circle groan as she gets up to leave.

Not kissing Judith haunts Estelle's dreams, both day and night, and sometimes at random. She can't even read without wondering what Judith's lips feel like.

Estelle locks herself in her room Sunday afternoon. Her laptop is rarely used in favor of her mansion's expansive library, but today it's the only way to seek the information she needs to find.

Estelle takes a deep breath. She types "girls kissing" into the image search engine.

The results have her swallowing a thick lump in her throat. Oh. Oh.

Estelle hardly focuses in her Monday morning classes. How could she, between the results of her image searching, reading up on sexuality identities, and brainstorming what she's going to say to Judith today at lunch. 

The lunch bell rings and Estelle rushes to the lunchroom where Judith is loitering on the other side. Estelle jogs across, careful not to run but too eager to walk.

"Judith! I must apologize," Estelle says as she approaches Judith.

Judith, caught off guard, furrows her brow. "For what?"

"For so rudely turning you down on Friday."

"You're straight, it's fine."

Estelle shakes her head. "I...I don't think I am."

"I see...did some internet searching?"

"How did you know?" Estelle gasps.

"Lucky guess," Judith chuckles. "Okay, so what now?"

Estelle wrings her hands together. "I...could we...I want to make sure..."

Judith catches on quickly. "Oh, I see. Let's go somewhere private."

Judith takes Estelle's hand and leads her out of the lunchroom towards the girls' bathroom. It's empty, but Judith pulls Estelle into a stall anyway.

"Ready for your first gay kiss?" Judith teases. Estelle's heart is beating hard in her chest. She nods.

Judith lowers her face to Estelle, and Estelle shuts her eyes tight. After much anticipation, a softness presses against Estelle's lips; she's being kissed...by another girl. 

It's not as fireworks-inducing as Estelle expected, and Judith only holds her lips there briefly. Estelle's eyes flutter open and Judith is smiling at her. 

"How was it?"

Estelle touches her lips. "That felt...normal."

Judith chuckles. "Good. Join me for lunch today? We can talk girls."

"Yes! I'd like that."

Estelle doesn’t catch herself watching Judith in the mirror wall instead of herself while they practice their routine for their new single until she’s tripping over her own feet and falling into Judith’s arms. She looks up at Judith, cheeks flushing upon seeing Judith’s coy smile while she holds Estelle’s shirted torso to her bare one.

“You should keep your eyes on your own feet,” Judith teases, “unless you’re just that into my new sports bra.”
