What a red letter day for Judeman! We taught Mikayla and MT sign language as babies, but it was especially important to teach Jude so that he could communicate with us. Jude (and Max) have excellent receptive language, meaning they understand what they hear very well. They go to speech therapy every week to work on their expressive language which is weak. Learning sign language to communicate their wants/needs has really helped make life easier. They know dozens and dozens of signs for things, actions, and people. Jude has recently begun signing 2 word sentences and is speaking along with the signs. While the words are not perfect, it is great progress! #ournewnormal #downsyndrome #nothingdownaboutit #ilovehomieswithextrachromies #t21 #changingthefaceofbeauty #downrightperfect #joggingforjude #joggingformaxandjude #theluckyfew #downsyndromeawareness #morealikethandifferent #specialneeds #notspecialneeds #justhumanneeds #wecouldhavemissedthis #moodytableofsix #speechtherapy
