Love The Way You Lie
Request: Could you do a Jack Barakat imagine based off of the song Love the Way You Lie? Jack said he’d be home by dinner. You looked at the clock with misty eyes. 2:57 A.M. He had been late every day this week. You got up from the couch and made your way to the kitchen. You started to clean the dishes that you prepared dinner with, when you heard the front door open and close. “Hi”, Jack muttered from the doorway that led into the kitchen. You replied with a bitter hello. He took a few steps closer. “Where were you?” you asked. You didn’t need an answer. You knew. You could smell the liquor in his breath. His clothes were crooked. His hair was an unusual mess, not the purposefully mess either. “I was at the studio with the guys”, he answered as if you knew. But you didn’t. He didn’t tell you anything anymore. You just wished he’d stop lying to you. “Jack,” you whispered, “we both know you weren’t with the guys.” “What are you saying?”, he questioned angrily. His fists clenched and his jaw tightened. “Just quit lying to me”, you pleaded. You couldn’t hold back the tears anymore. You choked out a sob and ran past him. You ran to the bedroom you shared with Jack. You grabbed the biggest bag you owned and started filling it with your belongings. “Where do you think you’re going?”, Jack asked angrily. “Anywhere that’s away from here”, you replied. “No you aren’t”, he said as he pulled your stuff out of the bag and threw it on the ground. “Jack stop”, you shrieked. “Don’t yell at me”, he screamed back at you. You didn’t know what to say. You wiped your tears and collected yourself. “It’s over, Jack”, you stated calmly. You began to walk out of the room. He grabbed your arm and pulled you back. You tried to fight it, but the more you struggled, the tighter his grip got. You relaxed and he eased up on you. He pulled you into a hug. You rested your head on his chest and couldn’t help but cry. “Shhh, baby it’s okay”, he soothed you. He closed the door with his foot and put his back to it, still holding you. He slid down, so you were sitting on the ground. He pulled you into his lap and kissed the top of your head. “I wish you would quit lying”, you croaked in between sobs. “I know”, he whispered, “I will.” This time, you knew he wasn’t lying.
