At nineteen Jared signed on to the police force like his father before him. He was known for his good public relations as an officer for three years and he was placed in the Tactical Response Unit to assist in de-escalation of tense situations. After serving for a short time he left after disagreements in the amount of force used while responding to calls. He moved from job to job never finding a sense of fulfillment until he signed up as security. He entered the raffle on a whim figuring he would never be picked. 

It was here in Alia Terra that Jared found the purpose he was looking for. Here everything he did mattered. Protecting the science team as they tried to figure out how to improve our survival odds, or pushing into the jungle to clear it out so further projects meant someone’s life would get easier if only by a little amount. Here in Alia Terra, he learned to appreciate the little things. While he will never admit it publicly he secretly really enjoys when he is sent out on longer assignments away from the base. This is because this let him “become one with nature, even it constantly tries to kill me" 

Jared’s allegiance to Alia Terra is strong. This is his new home and all the people here are the ones he’s risking his life to protect. He doesn’t hate the outsiders, but he’s not friendly either. With the gate seemingly broken he is concerned. Between the dinos in the wild and the Outsiders situation, not having the gate working could and most likely make things very difficult. He knew that people tended to act erratically when spooked and the gate breaking definitely changed the general atmosphere around camp.
