The thing of Yang grabbing Blake's hand is just so weird to me because like you can tell someone just added it in because "it'd be cute" without thinking of how it could come across. Which is like instance... 3001? Of RT not thinking things through about something in this show.
Heck, you could just have Ruby say "Yang, go get the bike started! We'll get him out.", to which Yang nods and then you could have it. Just one tweak that improves the scene significantly, because suddenly it's not just Yang running out, it's her following her leader's orders.
look at that, one little tweak & it establishes that, as you said, yang has acknowledged ruby as a leader & is following her orders to help her partner. with a few adjustments, it could establish as well that blake is probably the second most vulnerable in that moment because she's still under the heavy influence of the apathy & weiss / ruby have got qrow covered.
these are just frustratingly simple fixes that aren't really thought of because the show is a perpetual first draft that is edited by people who self admitted they don't like any criticism like.
