The collaborative group just seeds.org include artists like Josh McPhee whom I have done a study on before, however their efforts in bring social justice about is real, they aren't half hearted but fully committed to bringing about change through their work. I have recently been looking at one of the artists in their collaborative group called Bec Young, a Pittsburg based artist, her work stays true to what justseeds was originally intended for but also offers a unique perspective on many social issues that we all face today.
Young’s work stood out to me as it is closely linked to my work, working primarily in print and illustration Young highlights issues in society and illustrates them in an effective and graphic these intern start conversations amongst people who can then question for themselves the morality of the situation that was initially presented to them. This chain reaction is exactly what I am striving for within my work and practice, I don't want my work to stay in the gallery but rather go home with people hot on their lips talking and questioning it, it more than just something to look at. Looking suddenly then becomes a social interaction rather than a mental one.
