I Can’t Watch How Far is Tattoo Far? and Just Tattoo of Us

They’re the same show, just in different countries. How Far is Tattoo Far? is from the US, and Just Tattoo of Us is from England.

The premise of both of these shows is that two people will walk into the studio. They know each other very well, and are usually boyfriend/girlfriend, friends, or cousins. Each person will design a tattoo for the other person.

This is where it gets bad.

No one is allowed to see their own tattoo until the big reveal in the end.

Usually, people will choose a tattoo done really shittily, featuring something gross or graphic as “punishment” for something they’ve done in the past. (I was glad to find out the tattooers on the show usually do a bad job on purpose so that it’s easier to laser/cover up the work).

What gets me is just so toxic this show gets. These people are supposedly friends/lovers/family. The people are supposed to love each other! This was their chance to surprise each other with their favorite animal or a fun little reminder of something sweet. But instead, it’s just all toxicity. There’s girlfriends putting their faces on their boyfriends’ chests, a best friend put her friend, herself, and her boyfriend her friend’s chest in a threesome with “Throuple or nah?”, a sister gave her brother a demon baby coming out of his crotch region (positioned so that his penis would look like the demon baby’s penis), and there are so many other toxic relationships and fucked up things on the show. It’s just so bad. I have only seen one example of people who liked what was given to each other.

If my brother and I were on the show, I’d give him a traditional Japanese dragon next to a dragonite on his shoulder or something fun like that since we do karate and like Pokémon. If my boyfriend was on the show, I’d give him a linework corgi and giraffe because of an inside joke (plus, I wouldn’t want him to be in pain for too long). If my best friend was on the show, I’d give her a mermaid falling in love with a 1940s diver guy. I’d give my cousins the Ninja Turtles because they’re 4 brothers who love TMNT; they all actually fit the personalities, too!!!

I can think of so much fun stuff I’d want to give to the people I care about to remember me by, and I just can’t imagine why people would get so nasty and permanently mark each other like that.
