EXCUSE ME SIR THIS DIALOGUE WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO APPEAR WHAT?!?!
LIKE DUDE, I was just playing the game and then I got jumpscared by Information Not In Any Of The Wiki's Or YT Playthroughs Or On The Internet At All.
What's worse is that after this the rest of their dialogue was the same and in a rush I saved after the fight instead of making a new save after the fight so I could go back and double check. Thankfully I got the switch screenshot so evidence and whatnot. Still, I can't even get this shit back without speed running the game again (if taking 4 hours to get to The Room counts as a speedrun).
Also I have no clue why they said this and what conditions I had fulfilled to score this instead of the usual set of dialogue which goes as follows:
"I still am."
"But I won't accept this truth until the mirror is shattered and its opaque mist dispersed."
"I must go now."
As opposed to what I got, which was:
"All this time I was just an imposter, an artificial creature, the world destroyer, an evil puppet led by a blind entity" (shoutout to the lack of a full stop here, which leads perfectly into the normal starting line below)
"I still am."
"But I won't accept this truth until the mirror is shattered and its opaque mist dispersed."
"I must go now."
Like. HUHHH. This singlehandedly makes them so much more confusing because this can be read as so many different things. Is this Justus reflecting what The Batter is and giving evidence towards The Batter not liking what they are doing (The end of the queen fight with the line "his eyes are full of fear" being vague enough to imply a sort of fear of completing the mission in The Batter and thus Justus, as a reflection kicked up a notch, tries to throw that back at him. Even also pointing out how the player is kind of considered blind or a victim of manipulation (it's his Holy Mission, no you don't get told what it involves just shut up and play the game lmfao. Those words imply it's a good thing anyway look at these fuckass guardians they deserve it) too).
Or is this Justus reflecting on something of their own personal life and proving Seraph Cycle (the idea that all the Seraphs had their own worlds and were that worlds The Batter/purifier, each standing against what the world was and ending it. Eg, like how The Batter is dutiful in a neglectful world, Cob was Death in a living world) Theory as likely canon. This does also throw in the very possible schizotheory that if Seraph Cycle is true, then Justus is the original game's The Batter after reincarnation.
Also I did arts of them so here, I wanted to draw angst but the hype of discovering undocumented Justus Content had me buzzing too much to do anything serious.
