there’s a rattling of pills and sooyoung’s following remark. it takes hajin a moment to register what has happened, but the moment he does, he’s immediately up on his feet.
“it’s nothing!” he calls out, trying to mask his panic—but the crack in his voice gives it away. when he makes it to the kitchen, he’s met with a mess of pills–and the bottles that used to contain them–on the floor. he had made the mistake, earlier in the day, of leaving all his pills on the counter and being too lazy to clean them up. it was only minutes before sooyoung’s arrival that he had even remembered that she was coming over and in those few minutes he had hurriedly stuffed the half closed bottles into a cabinet. only now did he realize it was the cabinet where he kept his cups—the exact cabinet he had directed sooyoung to to grab herself a glass of water.
“i’ll clean it up, you can go back to the living room.” his words sound polite enough, but internally he is begging sooyoung to leave the mess and begging her not to question the pills.
