Yerin laughed at the superstar in front of her. The rumors and scandals of Hyuna were constant. With her label change and new direction, it was clear that the other was able to say no, and had control. Yerin of the other hand was new, and now she was a forgotten name. “Well, I wrote all my music and helped with my concepts, but now I’m finding it harder to stay true to my dream. They want me to change my face or lose weight to sign. I just want to make music as myself. I guess I can’t want that and have the world as my stage,” she told.

Remembering Hongdae

She missed those streets. It was the place of her past. Yerin hated looking back, but Hongdae was where she blossomed. Before her record deals, there was Hongdae. Yerin would preform in every cafe and club that would take her in and met a boy there that she gave her heart, body, and sole to and  wrote every song on her first album on  those streets. Now post success, and maybe post her peak, Yerin looked to these streets and smiled. It was just a year ago, but the last time she walked these streets, Yerin was so much more naive and definitely more foolish.

“Stupid girl,” she told as stopped at the street corner she had come for. Why hadn’t she known in those moments that they were the best moments of her life? Yerin shook her head and opened the wheel-able case that held her instrument, mic, mic stand, and sound box. Yerin set it all up and soon took her position along the disheveled pavement.

“ 비틀 비틀 비틀 걸어서… (biteul biteul bitel geoleoseo…),” she began in a calm tone. Her cadence was soft spoken and calm like the woman she had been mimicking in her rendition. She continued the song and focused solely on the song. The words continued onward and the melody as well, but everything in her mind was still. Yerin felt home. She didn’t feel lost, but that was always how she felt when she was singing. That was her. This was her passion.

When she opened her eyes she first saw his shoes. Her gaze had been downward, but just from the size of his feet she knew he was going to be a taller man. Yerin looked up and stared into his perfect crafted face. He was a beautiful man, but after a few moments she didn’t smile or speak. She just let her fingers strum the chords of the song on her guitar, and she soon found herself singing once more up this time to him. This time she was giving rather than releasing.

Choruses passed though. The song that seemed to be infinite in the moment was over and again she was left staring at him. Yerin dipped her head slightly to the male. She didn’t give a smile, but she gave respect. “What is your name?” she inquired breaking the silence of the two.
