Hi im an artist who has been drawing my whole life and I can tell you that colorpicking a person of color in a specific setting that makes their skin tone lighter than it normally is is not merely a mistake because artists are generally aware of how color works. when you want to draw fanart and take a persons skintone you refer to multiple references rather than one source, and in this case blizzard has made references specifically for artists to use. even if it ‘wasn’t’ racist which I am no judge of either way, it is a very sloppy and badly executed  way of coloring a character and using references.
