“You’ve got to be joking.” Natalia stared at the stick on her counter in disbelief. This couldn’t be happening. 

She heard the familiar car horn honk outside, signaling that her boyfriend had arrived to pick her up. The girl hastily grabbed the stick, throwing it into her purse. Nat quickly cleaned up the various cosmetics out on her counter

Her loud boots clacked as she jogged down the stairs to his car. A hand running through her hair, should she tell him now? Doing her best to muster a smile, she sat in the passenger seat of the car and turned to Jake, “Hey babe, how are you doing?”

Sometimes it was easier than other days, but today, Natalia had just worried constantly about Jake.

To see his name pop up on her phone never failed to make her heart skip a beat. “I love you too.” She said with a deep sigh back, a small smile breaking through her worried feature. Even in the worst of times hearing him say that would always make it hard to hold back a smile. “Are you coming home soon?”
