So We Go Round the Sun Author: teahigh Pairing: Sherlock/John, John/Mary Rating: NC-17 Summary: If John is the sun, and Mary the moon, then Sherlock is a dark cloud hanging over them both.. Why: Stunningly beautiful and realistic. There’s also some dark humor to “lighten” things up, but it also succeeds in making things seem completely as they would be in the show. The ending is quite open-ended, so if that bothers you, I’d probably not attempt this one, beautiful though it may be.

walk through ghosts Author: augustbird Pairing: Sherlock/John, John/Mary Morstan Rating: R Summary: The thing is: Sherlock thought that the two of them would have forever to figure it out. Why: For once, Sherlock doesn’t get with John. It’s so painful, the way the others can see that Sherlock is hung up on John, but Sherlock himself refuses to admit it. The way Sherlock thinks of the different timeline where Sherlock is with John is just…sad. Molly is wonderful in this, as well.

The Progress of Sherlock Holmes Author: ivyblossom Pairing: Sherlock/John, John/Mary Rating: NC-17 Summary: Sherlock is head over heels for John, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at him. First-person present-tense series of short scenes from Sherlock’s point of view, borrowing heavily from Arthur Conan Doyle’s stories. Why: Look, okay, I know it’s first person. But the way the author writes Sherlock, with enough description to depict the scene without getting awkward amount of detail (because this is Sherlock Holmes, after all), first person doesn’t matter. It just disappoints me greatly that Sherlock doesn’t like Tchaikovsky. Be wary: this sucker is 25 chapters long.

The How and Why Author: anonymous Pairing: John/Mary Rating: G Summary: Sherlock returns after bringing down Moriarty. Why: It’s based off a Vienna Teng song, which logically should be more than you need to read this. It’s tender in all the right places, when a friendship picks up where it shouldn’t have left off.
