‡ (JUST A DRABBLE BUT I NEED IT)
Send me ‡ for my character's reaction to yours climbing into bed with mine.
Since meeting Greg, Rose had become much more familiar with the concept of sleep. -- Amethyst too. It wasn’t unusual for her to find the two of them sprawled out on the sand in front of the temple, fast asleep in the sun as they had waited for her to return from a mission. It had gotten Greg sunburned quite a few times, much to both Amethyst’s amusement and Greg’s ire, which had led to Greg simply napping in his van, instead.
Rose hadn’t actually tried to sleep yet, and she had to admit.. she was curious. She had tried human food, gotten involved in various human activities.. but she had yet to sleep. Given that she had time, she decided to give it a try. Stepping onto the sand, Rose moved towards Greg’s van. He and Amethyst were ‘hanging out’ at a friend’s from what she could recall, and Garnet and Pearl were on a mission...
Tugging the back doors of the van open, Rose leaned in and pulled down the mattress, re-arranging some items to make the area more comfortable. She’d seen Greg sleep in the van a few times, so she had a good idea of how it worked. Carefully, Rose lay herself down on the mattress, curling her legs upwards so she fit better, and tried to recall what Greg had told her about sleeping.
“You just close your eyes.. and let your mind.. drift off..” She repeated aloud, and closed her eyes, trying to clear her mind of thoughts. It was.. much more difficult than she really imagined, but she continued to lie still, keeping her breathing even, and soon, she could feel something.. changing. She felt -- droopy.
Before she really knew it, she was asleep.
It was movement which woke her up, and her eyes fluttered open, forcing her to squint at the sunlight which shone in from the windows. She turned her head, feeling oddly bleary, and noticed that Greg kneeling on the mattress, trying to lean over her to grab a guitar. He didn’t seem to have noticed she was awake, and she watched him with an amused smile.
“Need something, Mr Universe?”
Greg jumped, startled by her voice, and leaned back, staring down at her in surprise, before he rubbed the back of his neck, offering a sheepish smile.
“Aw, geez. Sorry. Did I wake you up? I was just tryin’ to grab my guitar. Figured I’d do some practising while you took a nap.”
Rose lifted her body slightly, propping her head up against her hand, elbow resting against the mattress.
“You could have woken me on purpose, I wouldn’t have minded.” She pointed out with a smile, and Greg’s lips pulled up into a wider smile.
“Yeah, but you looked so peaceful and cute just lying there, takin’ a little nap in the back of my van. I didn’t wanna disturb you.”
Rose let out a laugh, closing her eyes as her shoulders shook, stretching her legs out and warming her toes in the warmth of the sun rays. Openly grinning now, Greg leaned down so that he was hovering over her, his nose brushing against hers, fingers gently sliding into her curls as his lips pressed down against her own.
When they broke apart, he stared down at her, and Rose stared back up at him with the half-lidded starry eyes he loved so much. He shifted, lowering himself so that he was lying down beside her, her body turned towards his, and he turned, pushing some items to the side of the van so that he could fit better.
Before he had the chance to turn back around to face Rose however, her arms were around his torso, and she pulled him closer, pressing her head happily into the crook of his neck, curling her legs back up so that they were spooning.
“Let’s stay like this for a while..?” She asked softly, her breath tickling the back of his neck, and a shiver ran up his spine, and when he spoke, his voice was a pitch higher than usual.
“Yeah - Yeah I’m okay with that!”
Rose smiled against his skin, and closed her eyes. She finally understood why humans enjoyed this, especially with a partner -- it was.. pleasant. Their warmth pressed against you, the feeling of knowing someone was there. She liked it.
They would have to make a habit out of this.
