“Are... you truly capable of partaking this activity? I do not wish to see you harmed...” She was asked to be the child’s partner for the snowball fight sincerely by her, but noticing how tiny she was, it only made her wonder if she knew what she was getting herself into. The goddess didn’t want her to be harmed during the round, and the thought of it made it all the more reason for her to have said ‘no’ instead. Alas, she had a soft spot for children in general.

“Shiva-chan, I see you’ve made it. Are you enjoying the party so far?”
Crouching to her height, she looked around to see if she had come with anyone else. From what she saw before, she noticed a tall, masculine figure that was accompanying before. Could that be her guardian? Maybe, but as of now it seemed like they were away.

“Ah, mademoiselle, were you so excited to be outside that you forget to bring along a coat?”
Easily, Vanitas brings up part of his own flowing coat to warm the petite girl from freezing. Though he’s troubled by his sudden arrival to this place -- the irritating realization while in that strange room knowing that he’s locked into another experiment -- Vanitas wouldn’t pass by an innocent child until she’s someplace safe. With the clouds overhead, he guessed it’s likely to snow at some point during the day, if not tomorrow, so with no answers given to him about this place, Vanitas is willing to go along with her. Who knows -- she may know a few things, since younger eyes can notice things the older folks simply wave away.
❁ – With the weather being a bit warmer than usual today, Byakuren sets out for a small outing; she’s heard of others making wreaths from pine branches and recalled that such trees framed the park in sector 6.
She starts at one such tree and starts gathering. Yet, a small human child, as is the case, is also playing around this same tree, peeking and out from behind branches. Concern wells within her -- why would a child have been brought here, and be left unattended, at that? For as long as the monk’s here, anyway, she decides this child’s safety is her responsibility.
“There, there, please don’t worry -- I’m simply gathering branches for something called a wreath. Would you like to help out?”

Oh. It was a girl, one younger even than her. Ib stared owlishly at the smaller girl for a few seconds before quickly striding over to her. She took the girl’s hand in hers, holding tightly.
Back home, Ib was an only child, no brothers or sisters. But at her school, Ib tended to mother the younger children. She was always there, waiting with them for their parents to pick them up, answering their questions about math or riddles or words that she often didn’t know herself, sharing her dessert with them. She liked the feeling of being an older sister.
Of course Ib was now going to take care of this child. “...I’m Ib.” Red eyes flickered around, lips tightening into a frown. It was freezing and she didn’t see anything around that looked like a house or apartment or even a store. There was a park, but that wouldn’t get them out of the cold.
She looked back at the girl, giving her a small smile. “It’s cold... I’ll get you, home.”
@jyacinthe
❝Oh, you’re going to catch a cold!...❞ She took off her own coat to wrap it around the girl. Judging by looks, she was a bit younger than Maria which concerned her even more. Perhaps it was because she was a mother, but she just had the tendency to worry over children a bit too much.
❝You should get something warm to drink... The night is only going to get colder.❞

It wasn’t hard to notice the smaller inhabitants of the city, even in a room full of people, regardless of how many towered around them, whether she’d been looking for them or not. But, well, Gaap wasn’t actually looking for any, not in that way. Nor was she perpetuating the stereotype that demons ate small and cute humans.
Just... she’d seen the child on her tiptoes, reaching for something. And no one seemed to be aware of her.
“Were you trying to get this?” There were people working at the tables, sure, but it looked as if they’d been busy enough not to see the small human attempting to reach for a plate of her own. So, instead of waiting for her to possibly fall, Gaap had plucked one from the stack, handing Shiva the round dish. “Here you go. Shouldn’t you be with your chaperone or something?”
