hi erika!! how about 10, 16, 27? <3
Hiiiii K thanks so much for sending these in 🌹
10. what is the longest amount of time you’ve let a draft rest before you finished it?
About 6-7 months ebxhebdhsjek… my original hope for Indiana Jones!Marcus P was to have it finished by March when I first had the idea in feb, but I fought so much with the fic & wanted to change the core idea too many times so I just let it sit patiently waiting lol
16. favorite place to write
One of my favorite places to write was on my old campus library and I miss it so much 😭
27. your favorite part of the writing process
I’m such a sucker for the start of writing - all the fun of brainstorming/moodboard/making playlist to help craft the idea and let it take shape more and more!!
Thanks again dear K 💕
Let’s play - fanfic writer ask!
Hi are you, @yoonia, @kpopfanfictrash and others are doing a Christmas collaboration this year?
hello, love! i'm so happy you asked about this because we discussed it with our friends that we collabed with last year and turns out.. while we all didn't quite have the time to do it this year, we all have winter wips that we've been sitting on that we could revive...
so be on the lookout for something in the coming weeks LOL
Hiii how about 3 and 15? 🧡
HI HONEY <3 thank u for theseee!
3. what makes you love writing?
oof, a big one! a lot of things, but the first that come to mind are how satisfying it is to finish a sentence or scene or story and feel you've communicated something in the best way you can. and writing has always been a way for me to process/unwind things/explore avenues of hurt/healing that I'll never get to in life. it just brings joy!! and I'm so fascinated w how people's brains work (perhaps a symptom of being neurodivergent & struggling to comprehend how other people think and behave) that exploring/imagining the inner worlds of other people is compelling. it feels like an exercise in empathy. but honestly I don't really think of myself as someone who loves writing - more just that it's somehow made itself a part of my brain. it doesn't ever shut off, for better or worse! even if I'm not actually writing at the time, my brain is writing 24/7 :,)
15. what do drafting and revision look like for you?
drafting is a lot of brain vomit - I overwrite in first drafts and let myself, knowing revision will be hacking it all up and chucking half of it out. in terms of planning, I'm big on discovery writing a first draft (I never outline in full or it absolutely kills my motivation. half the fun for me is figuring it out on the fly) but when I get ideas faster than I can write or have an epiphany, I usually include bullet points below the scene I'm working on for stuff to happen afterward. also reminders of images/lines/moments that have happened in previous chapters that I want to call back to or echo - I have goldfish brain (a terrible memory) so my notes are a lot of 'REMEMBER THIS FREYA DON'T FORGET THIS FREYA' lmaoo here's a heavily redacted look at the current chapter of see you at three I'm working on for context:
in revision (when it comes to fics), I reread a lot to look for flow and pacing. is this happening too fast, has too much been in exposition and not enough in scene, have we been in this person's head too long, when was the last time this character had a body and when can we remember it, what are they touching or looking at, how does the way they feel influence the things they observe and therefore what I describe. I'm not perfect at it (or at catching spelling/grammatical errors) cause I try not to stress about fics too much - with my personal work I'm much more intense about it. but revision for me is actually the fun part? I'm always trying to race through a first draft to get into the nitty gritty open heart surgery that comes in rewrites. perhaps that is the writing degree in me but I love to rip apart something I've written and make it better hahaha
writing asks game!
